Stacking the Shelves [37]

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

I got so little books this week. D:

In My Mailbox:
He’s Gone by Deb Caletti
Half-Blood (Covenant #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

1 2
I won He’s Gone from Goodreads First Read. I can’t wait to start it, it’s my first book by Deb Caletti.
I got Half-Blood from ARCycling. I heard that it was a lot like Vampire Academy and since I had read Vampire Academy this week, it is the perfect time to read it now.

That’s all for this week! What books did you guys get?

Congrats on your Goodreads win! I didn’t realize Half-Blood had a Vampire Academy vibe to it; that definitely pushes it up on my TBR because I loved VA! I hope you enjoy reading both of these!

I’m not crazy about JLA’s Lux series like other people, but I’m hoping that I will love her Covenant series.

I’m glad to hear Half-Blood is awesome; I’m a little worried about it because I didn’t really enjoy reading the Lux series. :P

This week I bought False Memory by Dan Krokos, since it was a Kindle daily deal and I’ve been meaning to buy it since I read and loved it last year. I can’t wait to reread it :)

I am in love with all things Jennifer L. Armentrout! She can make great books, sometimes they are a little predictable, but I still love them. And she also knows how to write great guys. They are some of my favorite book buy friends. Aiden is amazing.
I haven’t read Vampire Academy so I really don’t know if it is like it. I’ve heard a lot of people say that the first Half-Blood is a lot like VA, but the rest of the books un the series are completly different.
And the author gets a lot of hate for it being like VA. People call her a fraud, and it makes me very mad when I see a person say that on the internet.
Hope you like all of your books Kelly :D

I’ve sadly never read any book written by JLA that I absolutely LOVE.
And I’m currently reading Half-Blood right now, on page 55 (20%), and it’s painful. I just read Vampire Academy this week and Half-Blood is SO similar to Vampire Academy that it’s not even funny. So far, 95% of Half-Blood is the same as VA. :l
Hopefully the book will get better.
And I don’t think people are just talking about Half-Blood being like VA, Obsidian is like Twilight too (although Obsidian is a lot better than Twilight). I wish JLA can create her own unique supernatural creatures without “borrowing” plots from popular books/series.
