Stacking the Shelves [39]

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

I got some great books this week. :D

Bought:
Some Quiet Place by Kelsey Sutton
Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles #1) by Kresley Cole
Born of Illusion (Born of Illusion #1) by Teri Brown

bookhaul
I got all three books for 50% off from a daily trip to Strandbooks. I’ve heard that Some Quiet Place is unique and I’ve also heard tons of people talking about Born of Illusion at BEA. As for Poison Princess, I already have it in hardcover, but the cover is so gorgeous and smooth that I couldn’t resist getting a paperback copy, especially since it was 50% off.

In My Mailbox:
Smoke (Burned #2) by Ellen Hopkins

smoke

Thank you so much Simon & Schuster!

Smoke is my second ARC ever that was sent straight from the publisher! I absolutely love, love, love Ellen Hopkins’ books and the first book, Burned completely broke my heart. Ever since I’ve heard that there will be a sequel to Burned, I’ve been dying to get my hands on Smoke. I’ll be reading Smoke right after the Debut A Thon.

That’s all for this week! What books did you guys get?

I loved Some Quiet Place so much! And Poison Princess! Two rare 5-star ratings from me. I actually didn’t like Born of Illusion at all – but perhaps you’ll like it more than me! And I hope you enjoy Smoke! I’ve never read anything by Ellen Hopkins D:

I can understand why you didn’t request it; the cover itself doesn’t really attract my attention, only the summary did.
You definitely have to check out Burned Charlie; it completely broke my heart, which is why I was SO happy to hear that there was a sequel.

I love your haul! OMIGOD! Strand Bookstore has a 50% off sale, in NYC? Is it still going on? I am completely jealous of your Born of Illusion, I want that book so much! The cost of hardcovers in store is ridiculous, $18.99, not on a high schooler’s budget. Smoke by Ellen Hopkins is a amazing ARC. I love Ellen. I hope you enjoy all you books.

Yeah, hardcovers are CRAZY expensive. Why, books, why? (Most of Strandbooks hardcovers are $9 though.)
Yay, another Ellen Hopkins fan! High five! :D
I feel like so many people haven’t read her books so I’m always glad to meet another Ellen Hopkins fan.

Born of Illusion was FANTASTIC. It surprised me – in a good way! – and I really hope you enjoy it. :)

I wonder if maybe I should check out Hopkins someday. It seems like her books are all “issue” novels (at least in my mind) and I’m not a big fan of those.. but I could be completely wrong!

You saying that makes me happy Leah! I was worried about that buy – the cover personally scares me.
Ellen Hopkins’ books are mainly issue books, and like you, I’m iffy about them. However, Ellen Hopkins’ books completely won me over in two different points: I usually don’t like issue books plus poetic books; both of them which Ellen Hopkins write at the same time. (I don’t know if that makes any sense; I’m watching Big Brother while typing this. :P)
Now that I think about it, it’s quite amazing that I love Ellen Hopkins’ books actually.

I've been seeing a lot of good things about Born of Illusion, and even though I'm not a fan of historical, I want to give it a try. Hope you enjoy them!
