Summer Lovin’ Readathon: Day 2 – You’re the One That I Want + Cover Re-Do

YouretheOneThatIWant2

  • List your must-have summer reading (the ones you read over and over again) or give us some of your favorite recommended summer reads.

For this question, I’ll pick the top three summer reads I recommend.

My Recommended Summer Reads:

mylifenxtdoor catchingjordan distance

My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
My Life Next Door screams summer! Everything about it fits to be a summer read: first love, first time, first betrayal, basically, My Life Next Door is a book of firsts.

Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally
Hot boys, football, and friendships. If that doesn’t make a perfect summer read, then I don’t know what else does.

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West
Okay, I haven’t read this book yet because I’m not heading to the bookstore until later this week, but man, doesn’t the cover itself scream summer?

What are your must-have summer reading or recommended summer reads?

CoverRedo2

Today, Nancy from Tumbling Books is doing a Challenge Post of Cover Re-Do! In Cover Re-Do, we pick a book cover which we can re-do.

The book I planned on re-doing is Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. In my review of Wallbanger, I commented on how terrible and confusing the cover is. My exact words are: “Did you know that I once thought that the guy on the cover had the girl’s legs as his hands? It took about three minutes of me staring hard at the cover to realize that no, his hands weren’t actually legs; there was just a girl behind him.” I mean, can’t you see what I’m thinking?

Well, I worked my magic! Well, kind of. Check it out!

The Actual Cover:
wallbanger

My Cover Re-Do:
wallbanger

My new cover prevents the mis-conception I had with the original Wallbanger cover! Isn’t it genius?

If I wasn’t so lazy, I would have drew an anime/manga type of cover, but nah, that’s too much work. :P

Haha! I saw your post last night before I fell asleep and knew I had to come back this morning to comment. I LOVE your redo. I’ve seen some amazing talent today for this challenge, but I’m not quite sure if anyone has created one so… spot on. But really, it DOES look like her legs are part of his arm now that you point it out. And that’s REALLY creepy. I haven’t done my re-do post yet, but I’m hoping mine is as brilliant as yours ;)

Giggling at your redo for Wallbanger! I admit I had the same misconception with the cover. I was thinking “Wow, that guy has some loooong arms.” for a while before I REALLY took the cover in. Haha!

I saw the cover for Wallbanger a few weeks before it was given to bloggers for a cover reveal when I was with the ex-blog and I remember thinking it looked like he was plucking a chicken. LOL! Yeah, the whole where are his arms, etc I thought about. I freaking LOVE your cover redo! Brilliant! BUT where are her hands? Over her head? ;)

      Thank you! ;D
And, uhhh, his hands are covering her hands? Like, I didn’t want to draw her hands around his non-existent neck because then, it’ll look like a stick figure choking another stick figure. :P

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT WHEN I SAW THAT COVER!!!! I was like, what the heck is wrong with that guy? Long arms are sooo weird (I really thought they were arms) then I realized they were legs and then after that I realized it was two separate people!! I felt really awkward, but now I’m glad I wasn’t the only one!! LOL! And I love the redo! It is a true works of art!! You should talk to the author and see if she’d be willing to replace the old cover with that one! ;-)

Great cover redo! It really does clear up that problem. When I frist looked at it I wondered the same thing (does he have legs for arms?).

I haven’t read any of those books that you’ve recommended. I’ll have to put those on my TBR list. They sound like a perfect summer read.
