Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition

toptentuesday

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Authors Who Deserve More Recognition.

So here’s my list in no particular order:

crank everneath unbreakable

1. Ellen Hopkins (author of Crank, Impulse, Burned, etc.)
Okay, I know that some of you will say that Ellen Hopkins has a lot of recognition already, but in my opinion, I think she doesn’t have enough recognition. So many people don’t want to try her books because it’s in poetry format. I can’t stress the fact that although yes, her books are in poetry format, it isn’t read like poetry. Ellen Hopkins’ books are also more than just “issue books.”

2. Brodi Ashton (author of Everneath and Everbound)
I absolutely love both Brodi Ashton’s books and really, I think everybody needs to read them. I mean, who can resist the myth of Persephone and Hades?

3. Elizabeth Norris (author of Unraveling and Unbreakable)
Elizabeth Norris writes awesome, action-packed books with so many twists and turns. She’s not afraid to kill people off and really, just grab a copy of Unraveling already and read it!

mylifenxtdoor allouryesterdays starlight

4. Huntley Fitzpatrick (author of My Life Next Door)
Her debut novel, My Life Next Door, unexpectedly blew me away. Everybody needs to read this book.

5. Cristin Terrill (author of All Our Yesterdays)
I’ve read All Our Yesterdays at the end of last month and man, was it good. Cristin Terrill is definitely one author you just have to watch out for.

6. Laini Taylor (author of Daughter of Smoke & Bone and Days of Blood & Starlight)
I know that Laini Taylor’s books are famous already, but I don’t think that her books have been getting enough recognition in the book blogging community. Seriously everyone, what are you waiting for, read Laini Taylor’s books already!

altered ihuntkillers whatsleftofme

7. Jennifer Rush (author of Altered)
I was so surprised to actually love Altered. I thought that I wouldn’t like Altered, but boy did Jennifer Rush manage to surprise me. Guys, you should definitely check Altered out.

8. Barry Lyga (author of I Hunt Killers and Game)
I’ve never read any horror book that has kept my attention right from the beginning to all the way at the end, but boy, did Barry Lyga do it successfully. Plus, he’s one funny guy in real life. :D

9. Kat Zhang (author of What’s Left of Me)
This book. This book played with my feelings, plus, Kat Zhang’s idea is just so refreshing and unique.

you10. Julie James (author of Something About You, A Lot Like Love, About That Night, and Love Irresistibly)
Julie James is definitely my favorite adult romance author (I’m not counting historical romances in this category). Her books are witty, cute, and totally sassy. The books make me laugh like crazy and the sex scenes are always hot.

And now, I want to know, what are your top ten authors that you think deserve more recognition?

Mhm! I want to hate Elizabeth Norris for killing off the characters I love, but at the same time, I can’t. She is, after all, the one who bought us the brilliant Unraveling series.

I just got a copy of All Our Yesterdays and I cannot wait to read it! I have Unravelling on my bookshelf at the moment and I’ve heard wonderful things about it, so I’m excited to get to it and see how awesome Elizabeth Norris is! Also, I totally agree with Kat Zhang, even though I didn’t include her on my list. Her idea for What’s Left of Me was great.

I love Ellen Hopkins and I agree with you! Many of these authors aren’t as popular as they should be. I’m reading “I Hunt Killers” by Barry Lyga and I’m really enjoying it. Great post!

I’d like to add Eliza Crewe to this list. Her books “Cracked” and “Crushed” are witting, funny and she takes an overused plot and makes it entirely unique. She’s fab!
