Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Words/Topics That Will Make You NOT Pick Up A Book.
So here’s my list in no particular order:
1. Christian Fiction
I’ve tried to read a Christian Fiction book, but no thank you, it was totally not my type of book.
2. Books focused only on middle school/high school/college popularity
When I was in middle school, all I read was The Clique series by Lisi Harrison and the Gossip Girl series. I’m dead tired of books only focused on popularity now.
3. Bad author behavior
As soon as I hear that an author has been treating bloggers or people in general badly, I automatically don’t pick up or buy their book. Authors, treating people badly is a huge no no.
I read a book about a girl that had cheated and boy, did it not end well for me and the book.
5. People who stole their best friend’s/friend’s girlfriend/boyfriend
Yes, Unbreak My Heart, I’m looking at you. I just couldn’t deal with Clementine’s “oh she will forgive me sooner of later” attitude, especially when at the end of the book, she thought that a single apology letter will make everything all right with her best friend again. No, just no. (Yes, I was in Clementine’s best friend’s situation before, which is how I know that she wouldn’t be forgiven that easily, if at all.)
When I say politics, I mean books that focuses on politics 40% of the time or more.
7. Book series that has more than six books in it
I don’t think I can stick with a series for that long. Also, six plus books causes this voice in my mind to scream “Money cow!”
8. Main character that is really really really really girly-girl
I tried, I really tried, but I do have my limits. -glares at Paranormalcy. Books that have main characters who color/dye their possessions pink? No thanks.
9. Books compared to Sex and the City
I’ve never watched the show, so I don’t know why I don’t like it when this happens, but no thanks.
10. Books focused on a food competition
Books that talk about food all the time will definitely make me hungry and hate where I live. I mean, New York, why you no have In-and-Out?!
And now, I want to know, what are your top ten words/topics that will make you NOT pick up a book?
