Waiting On Wednesday [32]

WAITING ON WEDNESDAY is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week, I can’t wait for a book written by a well-known author.

thecoldestgirlincoldtownThe Coldest Girl in Coldtown
Author: Holly Black
Series: None
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Dystopia
Publisher: Little Brown Books for Young Readers
Release Date: September 3, 2013
Summary:

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.
One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black.

I’ve never read any book written by Holly Black before (please don’t kill me guys) and I’m eager for my first Holly Black book to be The Coldest Girl in Coldtown since it’s her recently will be released book.

I’m crossing my fingers right now, hoping that the rumors are true: Holly Black is a fabulous writer and author.

What book are you looking forward to reading this week?

Oh, even I haven’t read any book by Holly Black until now. But I have heard great things about her books. Maybe this will be my first book by her too ! That cover is so accurately creepy and cold no?

I remember reading The Spiderwick Chronicles back in the fifth grade and absolutely loving it! I didn’t know that Holly wrote for older children until the release of Doll Bones (which is another book I really want to read). The Coldest Girl in Coldtown sounds both thrilling and hilarious. And super unique!

I’ve tried to read a Holly Black book (Tithe) and I couldn’t get into it. But, I think that was one of the first books she’s ever written. At a convention, someone brought the book up and she cringed, so I think it’s probably not a good portrayal of her writing. I’d definitely give this one a shot! Good choice :D

Ha ha, I always cringe when I see that someone had commented on one of my very first book reviews too. :P
But yeah, it’s probably one of her first books.
      Thanks Becca! ;D

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I love Holly Black and how she never shies away from the nitty and gritty parts of adolescent life (with a fantasy twist!)

Thanks for reminding me about this one! The Coolest Girl in Coldtown sounds awesome. Which isn’t that surprising considering it’s written by Holly Black. You HAVE to read her Curse Workers series. It’s fantastic! :)

Holly Black’s Curse Workers series is already on my TBR list. It’s just that there are so many books out there and just so little time.
