Judge A Book By It’s Signature: What’s Left of Me – Kat Zhang

judgeabook

This is a feature I’ve been thinking about doing for awhile.

I don’t know about you, but my signature is downright ugly. And lame. Let’s not forget lame. Every time I sign my name on something, whether it be a receipt or a new credit card, I wince inside. I don’t know how people come up with such awesome pretty signatures. I’m totally out of the loop with that.

One day, after getting multiple books signed, I thought what if instead of judging a book by its cover, you judge the book by the author’s signature? Will the author’s signature attract you to the book? Will you still buy the book then?

This week, I’m featuring What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang.

cover

I will definitely buy a copy of What’s Left of Me the minute I see it on the shelves. The cover is absolutely gorgeous; I love that half of the face is showing, which totally matches the title, and the light gray colors used on the cover. I also like how the last word of the title, “Me,” is capitalized and larger than the rest of the title.

coveralone

Definitely.

signature

I like Kat Zhang’s signature. It’s simple, but at the same time, it’s also kind of eye-catching. The way she writes her “K” is definitely way better than the way I write my “K” in my name. (Yes, that’s how bad my signature is.)

signaturealone

Maybe.

Will you buy What’s Left of Me based on the author’s signature alone?

Her signature actually really matches the title to me. I don’t know why, but I feel like it just … goes. This is a cool idea, Kelly! My handwriting is so bad, so I’m impressed by anything semi-pretty.

Ha ha, sometimes you just get a feeling that you can’t really explain. :P
And my signature is SO ugly and lame and ugly and lame…I’m so jealous of my friends’ signatures. Theirs look so mature while mines look SO childish. I’m also impressed by anything semi-pretty.

What a fun feature! I like how she connects her Z to her H. I love curls in signatures.

I like that too! My cursive Z, meanwhile, will look so ugly. :P
Curls in signatures is a definite plus. :D

Cool new feature. Did you notice that the cutout on the cover is also a face in profile, looking partially up?
Her signature is so neat, and clean, and you can see all the letters. Mine is basically a wiggly line with some ups. Not pretty, and basically indecipherable.

No, but now that you’ve mentioned it, -stares at the genius going on on the cover-
Kat Zhang’s signature is definitely so neat and clean. It’s also pretty. :D
I personally think wiggly lines in signatures are cool because if you look at mine, you’ll cringe and prefer ANYTHING but my signature. :P

Based on the signature I would buy the book. I think it’s simple yet elegant, but not overly so where you can’t read the writing.
And for the longest time my signature was just plain awful. I learned cursive in third grade and never used it and forgot it. So, when I signed things….I didn’t, I mean I didn’t write my name in cursive. However, when I started my job I kind of had to sign things so I practiced my signature for a loooooong time. And now I really like my signature.
    Great post idea Kelly :D

Yeah, that’s what I like about Kat Zhang’s signature. It’s so simple and it’s also so pretty. :D<3
You didn't sign your name in cursive? That makes it REALLY easy for people to copy. o:
I'm glad you're satisfied with your signature now though! I wish I was satisfied with mine.

Her signature is so neat! Mine still looks like it did in third grade when I learned cursive.

I wouldn’t buy the book based on her signature. I think her handwriting is too harsh and pointy. I like frilly and pretty and swirly haha.

Yeah, I love signatures that are frilly and pretty and swirly and curly too! :D
Kat Zhang’s signature isn’t that bad though. It’s definitely a lot better than mine.

I wouldn’t buy it based on her signature alone. But the book is on my list because of the cover and synopsis. :) I work a lot with font styles and her signature would actually make a cool font style…name it KZhang or something! lol

Yeah, I’ll LOVE to see Kat Zhang’s signature as a font. That’ll be wicked awesome. ;D

Oooh, I’ve never seen this feature but it’s very cool and unique, Kelly! I wouldn’t normally buy a book that has a signature just because I think the signature is pretty, but I do love seeing different signatures. Mine is very weird, and people always ask me what the hell I’m doing, but whatevs. ;) Kat’s signature is quite pretty! (Also, I’m still drooling over that cover!)

Ha ha, I was thinking about creating this feature for awhile and I finally did it. :D
I normally wouldn’t buy a book because the signature is pretty either, but there are some exceptions as you’ll see in future Judge A Book By It’s Signatures. ;D
I rather have a weird signature than a lame one. :P
Her signature is pretty (and so much better than mines). And yep, the cover of What’s Left of Me is GORGEOUS. <3
