Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Best Sequels Ever.
So here’s my list in no particular order:
1. Everbound by Brodi Ashton
This is probably one of the best sequels ever. I mean the ending! THE ENDING!
2. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
Little Red Riding Hood, androids, Sailor Moon, and Cinderella all in one book? How can this not be one of the best sequels ever?
3. Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins
Archer and Sophie together – for real! How can this not be one of the best sequels ever? (Although I do want Archer for myself.)
4. Dare You To by Katie McGarry
Dare You To was as good as Pushing the Limits, if not even better. In fact, I think I might like Ryan and Beth together better than I like Noah and Echo together. :P
5. Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor
Instead of just mainly focusing on the romance like Daughter of Smoke & Bone does, Days of Blood & Starlight focuses on the romance and the war.
6. The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
I absolutely hated the first book, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, but imagine my surprise when I absolutely loved the sequel.
7. Smoke by Ellen Hopkins
I was worried about this one, especially since it’s the sequel to the awesome Burned. Thank goodness it lived up to my expectations.
8. Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter
I didn’t really like the first Gallagher Girls book (-gasp-, I know, that should be a crime!), but this one redeemed the series for me.
9. Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris
More people dead. That’s a good and bad thing, but mostly good because hey, Elizabeth Norris is not afraid to kill even more people.
10. One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Cat and Bones finally together – for real. There’s also tons of swoon-worthy moments in this one. What could be even better than that?
And now, I want to know, what are your top ten best sequels ever?
I’m not much of a sequel reader. Thanks for your suggestions!
Here’s my list of best sequels.
I’m not much a sequel reader either – I pretty much struggled to come up with all these books for my list.

Oooh, I’ve never heard of the Burned duology before… it looks GOOOOOD.
barefootmedstudent recently posted…Series, Sequels, Books
It is BEYOND good. In fact, it’s amazing; all Ellen Hopkins’ books are amazing. ;D<3

Great list! I actually forgot Everbound! That was such a great book :-)

I can’t wait to get my hands on Evertrue! :D<3
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
Great list! I’ve never read the Hex Hall novels but I’ll have to check them out! I wasn’t a big fan of Everneath – I didn’t find the heroine believable and so it was hard to feel sorry for her or relate to her.
Terri @ Starlight Book Reviews recently posted…Review: “Nine Princes in Amber” by Roger Zelazny
You have got to check out the Hex Hall trilogy – it is hilarious and cute and just everything good bunched up together. :D<3
Aww, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't a fan of Everneath. I personally understood Nikki, but all of us have different tastes in books. ;D
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
I really enjoyed Scarlet. I actually preferred it to Cinder, so I’m glad I continued reading the series. Fab choices.
Chrissi Reads recently posted…Top Ten Best Sequels Ever
Yeah, the Lunar Chronicles series gets better with each book. I bet Cress would be even better. ;D<3
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
Ooh, you hated the first Mara Dyer and loved the second one? I may have to check it out. I was not a fan of the first one – I liked it until it became supernatural, I was really into the whole PTSD side of things and was super unimpressed when it changes – but I might have to take a look at the second one now!
Lesley recently posted…ALL OUR YESTERDAYS
Yep, I hated the first one with a passion (I still don’t know why) and was expecting to hate the second one with a passion too – until I read it. I hope you’ll also love it as much as I do Lesley! (:
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
I can’t wait to read Dare You To (I just started, like two pages through and Ryan’s voice is great!) Evolution is so much better than the Unbecoming. I actually liked the Unbecoming when it focused more on the hallucinations and less on the romance. Evolution seemed to find a great balance between the two :D
Becca @ Nawanda Files recently posted…Top Ten Tuesday: Best Sequels Ever!
The first chapter of Dare You To is the BEST in my opinion. Best book beginning EVER.
Agreed! Unbecoming was boring and just not my style. Evolution, meanwhile, was SO good. Let’s just hope Retribution would be the same as Evolution or even better. ;D<3
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
Great list! I have several books on your list still to read so I think I’ve got good things to look forward to! I really liked Scarlet and can’t wait for the third book!
Jan @ Notes from a Readerholic recently posted…Top Ten Tuesday–Best Sequels
I can’t wait for Cress either! I hope it’s going to be even more epic than Scarlet was. ;D
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
Evolution, Dare You To, and Scarlet all made my list too! Great picks!

Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
hmm, I think I’m going to Evolution of Mara Dyer soon, because I hated the first one, but if the second one redeems it I think I’m going to have to read it.
How could I forget about Dare you To? I loved that book!! And I can’t want until Crash Into You comes out this fall!!
Kimberly recently posted…Top Ten Tuesday (34)
I hope you’ll like the second one too Kimberly! I liked it a lot.
I still have to read Crash Into You. It’s also up on Netgalley. ;D
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
I loved both Mara Dyer books so so so much! But I can’t believe I forgot to list Days of Blood and Starlight o.O *hits head on desk* Dare You To was great but I liked PtL better ;)
I put Cat and Bones in my runners-up – amazing series! And I really need to get to Everbound >.<
Great list, Kelly! Quite a few books/series on here that I've been mearning to read for a while…

Carmen B. recently posted…Top Ten Tuesday: best sequels
Ha ha, don’t worry Carmen, I forgot to add some books to my list too. :P
Ahh, I absolutely LOVE Cat and Bones. I’m doing a re-read of the entire series. ;D
Read Everbound NOW Carmen, the ending will KILL you.
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
Reading Scarlet right now and IT IS SO GOOD.
You forgot to put Snow White in the whole “Little Red Riding Hood, androids, Sailor Moon, and Cinderella” because y’know, the Evil Queen = Queen Levana (who gets rid of the threat), Captain Thorne = the huntsman (at least to me). Think about it!
I LOVVEEEEED DEMONGLASS.
YESSSS!
No I didn’t, Snow White is going to be in the last book, Winter. And Captain Thorne isn’t the huntsman, he’s Rapunzel’s prince (I think) because in the preview of Cress, Cress has a HUGE crush on Thorne. ;D
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
Love this list! I really, really want to read Burned. I’ve heard so many great things about Ellen Hopkins’ writing!
Miranda @ Tempest Books recently posted…Top Ten Best Sequels Ever
If you want to read an Ellen Hopkins book, I highly recommend you start with either Burned or Identical first. You definitely won’t regret it Miranda. ;D<3
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
I still need to read Demonglass, Scarlet, and Evolution. I liked Days of Blood and Starlight alright, but it wasn’t my fave. I really loved Dare You To – it made my list too :)
Sarah E recently posted…Top Ten Best Sequels Ever
Aww, sorry to hear that Days of Blood & Starlight wasn’t your favorite. ):
Yay, I’m glad you loved Dare You To too! :D<3
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
Okay I feel guilty because I only read one sequel on this list and I didn’t like it xD I must read more books!!!
Charlotte @ Gypsy Reviews recently posted…Life of a Blogger: The Honest Truth Pt. 1
Which sequel was it? You’ve got me really curious now Charlotte!
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
I loved Dare You To. I liked it even more than Pushing The Limits, but that’s because I read them out of order and I liked Beth better for some reason. I can’t wait until Crash Into You is out.
Ashley recently posted…Waiting On Wednesday: Taste of Darkness by Maria V. Snyder
Beth rubbed me the wrong way at first, but then I totally loved that girl. She’s so sassy and stubborn, which is totally who I root for ;D
I can’t wait to read Crash Into You either! I have a feeling it’s going to be SO good.
Kelly recently posted…First Year Blogoversary + Three Giveaways!
Ahh, YES Everbound. I wanted that on my list, but I ran out of room.
Here’s my TTT
Sadly, it’s only top ten Tuesday right and not top twelve Tuesday. D:
