Top Ten Best Sequels Ever

toptentuesday

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Best Sequels Ever.

So here’s my list in no particular order:

everbound scarlet demonglass

1. Everbound by Brodi Ashton
This is probably one of the best sequels ever. I mean the ending! THE ENDING!

2. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
Little Red Riding Hood, androids, Sailor Moon, and Cinderella all in one book? How can this not be one of the best sequels ever?

3. Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins
Archer and Sophie together – for real! How can this not be one of the best sequels ever? (Although I do want Archer for myself.)

dareyouto starlight theevolutionofmaradyer

4. Dare You To by Katie McGarry
Dare You To was as good as Pushing the Limits, if not even better. In fact, I think I might like Ryan and Beth together better than I like Noah and Echo together. :P

5. Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor
Instead of just mainly focusing on the romance like Daughter of Smoke & Bone does, Days of Blood & Starlight focuses on the romance and the war.

6. The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
I absolutely hated the first book, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, but imagine my surprise when I absolutely loved the sequel.

smoke crossmyheartandhopetospy unbreakable

7. Smoke by Ellen Hopkins
I was worried about this one, especially since it’s the sequel to the awesome Burned. Thank goodness it lived up to my expectations.

8. Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy by Ally Carter
I didn’t really like the first Gallagher Girls book (-gasp-, I know, that should be a crime!), but this one redeemed the series for me.

9. Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris
More people dead. That’s a good and bad thing, but mostly good because hey, Elizabeth Norris is not afraid to kill even more people.

onefootinthegrave10. One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Cat and Bones finally together – for real. There’s also tons of swoon-worthy moments in this one. What could be even better than that?

And now, I want to know, what are your top ten best sequels ever?

I’m not much of a sequel reader. Thanks for your suggestions!

I’m not much a sequel reader either – I pretty much struggled to come up with all these books for my list.

Great list! I’ve never read the Hex Hall novels but I’ll have to check them out! I wasn’t a big fan of Everneath – I didn’t find the heroine believable and so it was hard to feel sorry for her or relate to her.

You have got to check out the Hex Hall trilogy – it is hilarious and cute and just everything good bunched up together. :D<3
Aww, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't a fan of Everneath. I personally understood Nikki, but all of us have different tastes in books. ;D

Ooh, you hated the first Mara Dyer and loved the second one? I may have to check it out. I was not a fan of the first one – I liked it until it became supernatural, I was really into the whole PTSD side of things and was super unimpressed when it changes – but I might have to take a look at the second one now!

I can’t wait to read Dare You To (I just started, like two pages through and Ryan’s voice is great!) Evolution is so much better than the Unbecoming. I actually liked the Unbecoming when it focused more on the hallucinations and less on the romance. Evolution seemed to find a great balance between the two :D

The first chapter of Dare You To is the BEST in my opinion. Best book beginning EVER.
Agreed! Unbecoming was boring and just not my style. Evolution, meanwhile, was SO good. Let’s just hope Retribution would be the same as Evolution or even better. ;D<3

Reading Scarlet right now and IT IS SO GOOD.

You forgot to put Snow White in the whole “Little Red Riding Hood, androids, Sailor Moon, and Cinderella” because y’know, the Evil Queen = Queen Levana (who gets rid of the threat), Captain Thorne = the huntsman (at least to me). Think about it!

    I LOVVEEEEED DEMONGLASS.

      YESSSS!
No I didn’t, Snow White is going to be in the last book, Winter. And Captain Thorne isn’t the huntsman, he’s Rapunzel’s prince (I think) because in the preview of Cress, Cress has a HUGE crush on Thorne. ;D
