Let’s Speculate: Blogs That Post Everyday

letsspeculate

I don’t know about you, but I like it when blogs post a new post everyday.

No, I’m not talking about posting blog tours, book blitzes, and cover reveals almost every single day, I mean actual blog posts that take a lot of thought and time to write like book reviews and discussion posts. Those are really fun, and informative, to read.

However, I recently saw some people tweeting about how they don’t post new posts everyday because they fear that it’ll annoy some people that follow their blog with tons of post spam. They do have a point.

think

I personally won’t be annoyed at blogs that post something new everyday, except blogs that post like two times or more a day, but I’m sure some people would not agree – that they hate blogs that post something new everyday because the blog posts fill up their emails, dashboards, etc.

The main thing is that I just don’t want to scare off some of my blog readers by posting everyday. I love you guys and I want to make you guys happy.

On the other hand, I also hate not posting something new everyday as you can see from my last Let’s Speculate: The Guilt Of Not Posting post.

So that leaves me, undecided. What should I do? Should I post a new post everyday or post, like, five or four times a week? (Can I even stand the guilt of only posting five or four times a week? Can I?)

What do you think? Do you like reading blogs that post everyday or would you prefer them to post less often? Am I the only one with this dilemma?

Fabulous post! I do feel a certain pressure to have regular content, but I simply don’t have the time to come up with something insightful to post every day. I do reviews on Mondays and Wednesdays (which I think I’m going to change so they’re not so close together) and my spotlight on Tuesdays, then sometimes I don’t have anything else planned unless I have something to showcase in a mailbox post. There’s some weeks where I only post Mon Wed and Tue. I do want to change that, I’m going to be re-vamping my blog here soon so I’ll have to figure out what to do. I definitely want to do more discussions.
Anyway, I got off on a tangent there haha. I don’t care how many times a week a blog posts, if I follow them by email I don’t really notice the frequency. I just see the post in my inbox, read it, and go visit if it’s something I want to comment on. If I like the blog enough, frequency of posts doesn’t matter in the least to me.
I personally CAN’T post every day because I simply don’t have the time. I have a full time job & I work 40+ hours a week. I can barely find time to do what little blogging I do as is, and it’s a push to me anymore to finish 2 books a week….

I typically post 6 times a week. This has me thinking…is that too much? I never really thought it might be seen as too much. Hrm. This week I skipped the two memes I do and I really liked having those days off and not really thinking of the blog for a couple of days. But I relate to not posting guilt. I have that big time if I don’t post for a few days. So, I’m curious what response you get from this post.

Its up to the individual blogger for themselves to make the decision. I just gave up trying to post everyday because it
s too hard and sometimes RL has to come first. I post as much as I can, but even I need to take a break. A lot of blogs that post everyday also have more than one reviewer on staff. So keep that in mind. Do what feels right to you. It’s your blog.

I post 3-4 times a week, every other day. So I generally post on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If I have a Stacking the Shelves, then I post that on Saturdays. I simply don’t have the time (or the creative mind) to post every single day, haha. I envy those that do, though~

I like blogs that post most days a week because I’m always short on interesting posts to read during class *not that I’m doing that now >.>* That being said, I use a feed reader, so I can just ignore it for a couple days if I need to. I don’t use email subs for blogs I follow for this exact reason! I hope I’m not annoying my readers with posting every day :( Though I think I’ll be careful not to post multiple times a day now, I did that a bit for the pageviews, but I hadn’t realized that it might be annoying to my email subscribers!

If people can come up with 7 days worth of quality, original content? Sure, go for it. But my problem with a 7-day blog schedule is that, well, the pressure of churning out so many posts can decrease the quality of it. I would rather a blog post three to four times a week with quality content than just putting posts out because they don’t have anything to fill their schedule for that day.

Personally I could never do a 7-day schedule. If I read faster and could review faster, enough to post two or three reviews a week, I probably could. But the fact remains that I don’t. I read, on average, a book and a half a week; so one week I’ll post one review, the next I’ll post two, and alternate like that. The weeks I post only one review, I also post a discussion. After that I post Tuesdays (either Top 10 or Teaser Tuesday) and Waiting on Wednesdays, and then a recap on Sundays. So I have two days spare. That works for me, because those two days give me chance to catch up on posts I need to write, blog maintenance, catching up with my feed reader, or catching up with my reading. 7-day schedules are just too much pressure for me.

All I have to say is…don’t be motivated to post everyday because of guilt. If you have good content for every day, do it. Do what feels best for you, but don’t feel pressured.

Personally, I don’t care if a blog posts everyday or just sporadically, as long as it’s good content.

As a blogger, I don’t post every day and I also don’t even always keep to my blog schedule (I know, gasp!). On an ideal week, I would have two reviews, two memes and a fun post, but that RARELY happens. Real life comes first and my readers will find me. I’m a lot more relaxed about this than I used to be…

The only problem I have with people who post everyday is that they have rather not so interesting posts and instead of seeing something exciting, I get bored. But some people, like you, manage to post QUALITY blog posts and I’m good with that. I personally think bloggers should take their time when publishing a post, if only to make sure that it’s good and will be something that readers can appreciate. :)

I personally love it when I have unread things in my Feedly, which I check many times a day. However, I personally don’t post every day and I’m fine with that.

The problem with daily posts is that the originality and/or quality may decrease, which in the long run is harmful. If the quality and originality can be kept though, I think it’ll be fine!

Like you, I don’t feel at ease unless I’ve posted something each day (except on Sundays – that’s my break day), but because I have meme posts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, that means I have to post reviews on the other three days! Kinda hectic for me >_< Another problem is that I'm also not particularly confident with my reviews. Ugh. It's a hard balance. But you're doing great so no worries, just keep doing what you do ;D

I don’t think every day is too much, but I do think you might get less comments when you post that frequent? As in, your followers will pick the one post they find most interesting? (I don’t know, just something I was thinking about). I always feel you should do what feels good to YOU. Blogging isn’t only about ‘us’ If you feel good by posting every day: go for it! If you want to post less: go for it! Haha.

I used to get a bit annoyed with blogs that post every day (emails) but now I really like it, it’s a well-known and welcome presence in my inbox. Several times a day though? Well if it’s a review and an interview, great. If it’s three book blitzes, not so much.
There was a time in late 2012/early 2013 when I posted pretty much every day, or at least 6 times a week. But a lot of it was fillers like cover reveals and book blitzes that are basically just a blurb and author bio and nothing else to make them stand out. I didn’t feel comfortable with that, so now I only do them when I think the book looks really awesome.
At the moment, I just don’t have the time or energy to post daily, but I try to post at least 1 review a week, with varying success. I just have a hard time writing them lately.
Your posts are really great though and not just the same stuff everyone else is posting, so if you want to blog daily you should go for it :)

I applaud people who can post every day. I tried to, but I was physically exhausted. (That might be because I don’t type up my posts a week or a month beforehand.)

I think the problem is when more than two posts are posted each day. I get a bit annoyed because I can’t keep up with it. They’ll get less comments because who has time, really?

You should post all of it on one day. ;D It evens out. Five times a week isn’t bad at all. Just imagine you have the weekend off. If you want to post everyday, go ahead. I don’t mind because you’re awesome. <3

    Hi Kelly!! :)
I’m actually a part-time reviewer for a blog so I don’t understand what you might be feeling, but I do know that you should do what you want and go ahead and post something new. I don’t think you should do things just because that’s what everyone wants. This blog is your baby and you worked hard for it. And I totally do think you would feel guilty for not posting something new for even two days. And occasionally I like reading posts (not all the time) but I will say that yours manage to catch my attention. And maybe you aren’t the only one with this dilemma but I think it’s great that you feel responsible for posting something everyday. Just keep it up! :D

I post every day, sometimes twice a day, and I find that works best for me because I read so fast that I can churn out 3 reviews a week, and sometimes more. If I waited and only posted one a week, my queue would be filled up a year in advance by the time the month was over. Usually, though, I post a review Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Then I do Top Ten Tuesday on Tuesday (der), WWW on Wednesday, and Stacking the Shelves on Sunday for my weekly memes. Thursdays are my discussion posts, and then Saturday is a wild card, with either a review, a discussion, or just something fun.

I hope I don’t bug anyone with my posting. I try to spread it out though!

This is a great topic! I try to post about 5 times a week, sometimes I might do 6. I don’t really keep track of how many times a week any of the blogs that I follow post, I usually just go through my bloglovin feed and if I see something that tickles my fancy, I will click on it. But, if I come across a blog that I’m not following and I see that they mostly posts cover reveal or blitzes I usually won’t follow them but to me those get kind of annoying.

Personally, when reading blogs, I don’t care as much whether or not they post everyday. I subscribe mostly via Bloglovin, so it’s not like I get spammed by email. I usually check my Bloglovin daily though. So it’s cool if a blog posts everyday. If they don’t, that’s fine as well.

As a blogger, I aim to have 3-4 original posts a week, and the rest of the week I fill with other things like a meme, cover reveal, or something of the sort. I aim to have some type of post daily though. I think I’m very much controlled by my school/work schedule. If I have more time to read, I’ll have more reviews I can post. If I don’t have the time to read, well I’ll have to post less.

However I want to post quality posts and sometimes I just don’t have it in me to write one so I don’t post for a couple of days. I’d rather post quality posts more infrequently than poor quality posts frequently.

Posting everyday is considered as Spam? Whoever said that … that seems weird to me. I think posting new content every day is amazing and it gives me something to look forward to in my feed. I actually don’t mind people who post blitz and cover reveals on top of each other bc it keeps me updated with what’s going on the blogosphere. It would be a little irritating if I subscribed to that blog’s email, but I don’t follow anything by email for that reason. Don’t ever think your blog is spam, Kelly! I don’t think there are any “best practices” here, except that I’m a big believer in not causing yourself (myself) stress over something that should be fun! I think if you have content to share every day, go for it! For people who don’t want constant email updates, following via Bloglovin’ or other digests is a great solution, but worrying about too much posting shouldn’t keep you from sharing what you want to share! This is a great topic to bring up, but I’d say — don’t feel guilty about not posting every day, and don’t feel bad if you do! If you put yourself out there with posts that you believe in, your readers will love you no matter how frequently you post.

Great post! I think that this is something that all bloggers deal with…the eternal question: when & how much to blog. I have a recipe blog that I’ve had for 3 years and just recently started my book blog. I used to post on my other blog every day, sometimes multiple times a day, when I first started, but eventually realized that I was getting too burned out.

Now that I’ve started this new blog, I’ve decided that posting Monday-Friday is the perfect schedule for me. It gives me time to decompress on the weekends, and even write and schedule posts in advance if I want. Any more posting than that, and it’s just too much for me and starts to feel like a job. It’s also a good middle ground between not posting enough and posting too much, I think.

I don’t mind when people post every day. I try to post four or five times a well, because I can’t find the time to do it every day. But I think it’s awesome when someone can provide thought provoking posts daily. It’s not something that you should hold yourself back from doing. I don’t think that many people are bothered by it. I really think that it is only annoying when it’s blog tour blitz posts or cover reveals or those other non-thought provoking posts that are posted daily. Those annoy me. If it’s a review or a post like this one, then I know you took time to write it and I love to read it.

I’m not really all that bothered if a blogger posts everyday or not. Just as long as it is about a book and not just about something completely random. I, myself. Don’t post everyday, actually I only post like two or once a week, and sometimes I post one, two or more reviews/posts based on the books I’ve read. But I try to post at least once a week (since my schedule is pretty tight) :D

Posting every day is totally fine as long as they’re quality posts. If you’re just posting to fill up space (blog tours, excerpts, reveals), your readers will see that and they won’t like it.

If you have quality posts for every day of the week, go for it.

But if not, it’s better to post fewer quality posts than more often “filler” posts.

I generally post every weekday. There are off days, of course, and I definitely don’t feel guilty for NOT posting, but in general, I stick to a M-F schedule and a weekend wrap-up on Sundays, which doesn’t take much time to put together. I think the thing is, you’ll never be able to please everyone. Some people will complain when blogs post every day. Some people will complain when they don’t, and prefer blogs that only post 2 or 3 times a week. I’ve just done what I’ve wanted to do on my blog, and it’s worked out well so far. I do like taking occasional “breather” days, and I have noticed that surprisingly enough, my pageviews have actually gone up on every single “breather” day I take. Perhaps because it gives people the time to still read the post from the day before? I’m not really sure why that happens, but it definitely made me relax a little about posting every day.

This is such a great post! I’m still a fairly new blogger (3 months) and I remember stressing over making sure I had enough content – and I thought that I need to have more than 1 post a day at that time. I quickly realized that most blogs don’t have more than 1 post a day and lowered my expectations for myself. I do tend to have a post everyday, but sometimes I have more than 1 post. It hadn’t occurred to me that doing that could be annoying. So that’s something I’ll have to think about. When I post more than 1x a day, usually it’s because I’m participating in a short and simple meme that’s fun (like teaser tuesdays) but I still have something more substantial I want to share for that day. You’ve really got me thinking – awesome post :-)

I don’t mind if you post twice a day, or twice a week. It’s totally up to the person running the blog, and much of the time I can’t read the posts right away anyway, so it makes no difference to me. I personally don’t post every day, because I don’t have time any more. Four/five days a week is more than enough, I think. A Monday to Thursday/Friday schedule has definitely improved my attitude towards blogging, since it’s given me some breathing space these past couple of months since I’ve been working. Definitely don’t feel guilty for not posting every day! No one should expect you to. That’s 30 posts a month, and that’s crazy. To me, anyway.
