Top Ten Best Books To Read For Halloween

toptentuesday

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Best Books To Read For Halloween.

Please note that this list is not created based on the scare factor of the book, but on the Halloween feel of the book.

So here’s my list in no particular order:

aliceinzombieland mad devil

1. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter
Alice in Wonderland with zombies. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect Halloween book?

2. The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd
A madman, his daughter, and an island, the perfect Halloween atmosphere.

3. Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke
The cover just screams Halloween! Plus, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea is a bit gothic.

thewakingdark somethingstrangeanddeadly paper

4. The Waking Dark by Robin Wasserman
People dying. Enough said.

5. Something Strange & Deadly by Susan Dennard
The entire cover manages to scream Halloween, even though that girl is wearing such a pretty dress.

6. Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff
The whole pattern on the cover of Paper Valentine reminds me of Halloween for some reason. Also, Paper Valentine is about murder and a serial killer – aka the perfect Halloween topic.

enclave beautiful ihuntkillers

7. Enclave by Ann Aguirre
Monsters called Freaks that are actual freaks. This book screams Halloween. Plus, look at that creepy cover!

8. The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan
How is gargoyles not related to Halloween?

9. I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
Title and cover self-explanatory.

theravenboys10. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
The Raven Boys involves a graveyard, ghosts, and death. How is that not a perfect read for Halloween?

And now, I want to know, what are your top ten best books to read for Halloween?

I really liked The Raven Boys and I love your list because it’s given me so many to add to my reading pile. I love a good creepy book, especially around this time of year.

The Beautiful and the Cursed is really good (I mean, there are GARGOYLES) and Something Strange and Deadly was okay, although I do like the ending.
I hope you’ll enjoy them Miki and like you said, they are not full horror books. ;D

I must admit that I haven’t read any of the books mentioned in this post as I am not a big fan of scary/halloweenish books myself. But I am planning to read at least one of them this year, just I don’t currently have one! Thanks for posting this!

I haven’t read any of these yet, but I just started Something Strange and Deadly last night! I can’t wait to continue on with it. I did a creepy-themed October TBR this month and I loved reading a whole bunch of Halloween-y books :)

I wish I did a creepy-themed October month, but midterms ruined all that. Oh well, maybe I can do that next year? ;D

Thanks Kelly for making up this list. Sometimes I wonder what scary books are out there and I can only come up with two: Another Little Piece and The Waking Dark. I never would have considered Madman’s Daughter before, but now that I think about it, it actually fits in that category too! ^_^

Aww, but yeah, I can see why you totally DNF’d The Madman’s Daughter.
I still have to finish The Waking Dark. >___< Kelly recently posted…Book Review: Vicious – V.E. SchwabMy Profile
