Judge A Book By Its Signature: Origin + White Hot Kiss – Jennifer L. Armentrout

judgeabook

I don’t know about you, but my signature is downright ugly. And lame. Let’s not forget lame. Every time I sign my name on something, whether it be a receipt or a new credit card, I wince inside. I don’t know how people come up with such awesome pretty signatures. I’m totally out of the loop with that.

One day, after getting multiple books signed, I thought what if instead of judging a book by its cover, you judge the book by the author’s signature? Will the author’s signature attract you to the book? Will you still buy the book then?

This week, I’m featuring Origin and White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

cover

It’s kind of obvious that I don’t like the cover of Origin. “Hot” shirtless guys on covers aren’t my thing. The background on the cover of the book also looks super fake. Overall, the photoshop job done on the cover of Origin could be a lot better. I like the cover of White Hot Kiss as simple as it is. I like the shade of pink on the cover, but then again, the cover of White Hot Kiss is really nothing special.

Nah to both of them. Those two covers don’t really do it for me.

signature

The reason I decided to focus on Jennifer L. Armentrout’s signature today is because I’ve noticed that she signs her books two different ways (at least it’s two different ways from what I can see), like how Cassandra Clare signs her books. One is simple: the initials of her name and a heart, nothing more. The other one is her full name, a swirl, and a smiley face.

No. I hate it when authors sign their names in more than one way. It makes you not know if their signature is legit or not. As far as I know, these two signatures pictured above are legit because one I ordered from an event where Jennifer L. Armentrout was signing and other one I got from my friend that attended a special event featuring Jennifer L. Armentrout and Julie Kagawa.

Will you buy Origin and White Hot Kiss based on the author’s signature alone?

Oh, I just have one book signed by her (I’m international, so it’s really hard to get signed books), anyway, the signature in my book is different from these two! It’s more like the one in White Hot Kiss but less swirly. I’d probably buy a book based on the second signature, though. :)

HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE HOT SHIRTLESS DUDES ON COVER? (At least the cover for Origin is better than the previous books.) The cover of White Hot Kiss looks so washed out. No thank you. Not a fan.

I wouldn’t buy her books for her signature alone either.

Hmmm, I also don’t like it when there are two different signatures. The short one with the heart is the best, but I wouldn’t buy the books based on them (and definitely not for the cover either)

I don’t like the shirtless dude covers either. It’s weird that she has different signatures though. Mine isn’t gorgeous, but I use it all the time and don’t change it. It doesn’t bother me that much though. Cool feature!

Interesting! I wonder if it has to do with how much time she has to sign? Like maybe full name was done before the book signing and the initial one is because it was after one and tired?
