Top Ten Covers I Wish I Could Redesign

toptentuesday

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Covers I Wish I Could Redesign.

So here’s my list in no particular order:

wallbanger throughthezombieglass teardrop

1. Wallbanger by Alice Clayton
This cover is awful for such an awesome book I confused the girl’s knees as the guy’s hands and boy, was that a nightmare. In fact, I already did a redesign for the cover of Wallbanger.

2. Through the Zombie Glass by Gena Showalter
That cover model’s face creeps me out every time I look at the cover. Why couldn’t they keep the old cover model, the one they had and used for Alice in Zombieland?

3. Teardrop by Lauren Kate
I have this GREAT urge to redesign/rephotoshop the cover model’s waistline. Her waist is too skinny to be true.

thornhill vamp auracle

4. Thornhill by Kathleen Peacock
I’ll love to fix the cover of Thornhill and make it look a lot less photoshopped.

5. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
There is absolutely no doubt that this series needs a good cover redesign.

6. Auracle by Theo Lawrence
I’m not sure if you guys know, but there’s a cover redesign for the paperback edition of Auracle, which is absolutely RIDICULOUS in my opinion because the cover is fine the way it is. I’ll love to change the paperback cover back to its original, better version.

gameboardofthegods landline rebelbelle

7. Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead
This cover is just so…plain. I’ll love to add more color to it.

8. Landline by Rainbow Rowell
I wanted Landline to match the cuteness of Rainbow Rowell’s other books: Attachments, Eleanor & Park, and Fangirl. Landline just doesn’t match them in my opinion.

9. Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
This cover just doesn’t do it for me. It’s plain and what’s with the half-bow half necklace thing? It also has too much pink-orange on the cover to suit my taste.

intheend10. In the End by Demitria Lunetta
I don’t really like the color tones of this one. It’s just too dark for my taste; I don’t like the red and dark brown coloring.

And now, I want to know, what are your top ten covers you wish you could redesign?

Richelle Mead’s book covers are always bad. :( It makes me sad because her books deserve so much better.

HOW DARE YOU INSULT LANDLINE AND REBEL BELLE? I really like them. Landline is certainly different from Rainbow Rowell’s other books, but hey, different is good sometimes. (Although, I wish the phone was slanted a little because it looks it bit awkward up right.) For some reason, I thought the dagger in Rebel Belle was a fire hose and it confused me until I realized what it was. Lollll.

      Yeah, they are. D:
They make people not want to read them.
I MEAN NO INSULT. I just like my books to match and Landline just doesn’t match. D:
You see! A good cover doesn’t confuse you! :P

I hate the Vampire Academy cover, I just hate it! Everytime it makes me think of Angelina Jolie u.u
And as regards Through the zombie glass, I totally agree with you! I waited one year before reading the first one of the series because that model’s face creeped me too much! u.u

Ha ha, I have no clue how Angelina Jolie looks like, so I can’t give you my opinion on that. :P
I know! That cover model looks like a guy, a too pale ugly guy to boot.

I so agree with Wallbanger – I confused it too! But I don’t mind Gameboard of the Gods :-)

I didn’t realise everyone hated the VA covers so much, i personally quite like them, though it’d probably because i love the books and because of that i didn’t really mind the covers. But they have redesigned them to red ones with things on them, i’ve compared them in my post. I do agree with most of the rest though, Teardrop especially i’m not keen on the cover for, and Richelle Mead’s other series you have on here:Gameboard of the Gods could definitely use a redesign!

I found Rebel Belle’s cover quite good. The bead necklace represents the straight-A nature of the protagonist I guess and the knife for the Palladins! Even the color scheme looks attractive for a YA novel.

Yep. Wallbanger. So gawdy and crass. It’s why I’m not inclined to read my copy.

I actually really like In the End’s cover because of the beginnings of new life with the vines and such. I agree about all the others–some redesign would do them a great benefit (well just a tad more added to Gameboard–overall a pleasing cover to me). Great list! I love seeing what covers bother everyone :-) Fun topic.

VA and Gameboard of the Gods – YES. So unfortunate because Richelle Mead is one of my favorite authors. I’m not crazy about her Bloodlines covers either.

I agree with all of your picks! and Wallbanger is the worst of all! Really! I had to look twice to see if I was seeing it right!

I agree about Teardrop, I’m horrified by the barbie proportions D: Have you seen the cover for Gameboard of the Gods 2? It’s a lot more colorful :D

Great list! Definitely agree with VA, the covers are awful and have put me off reading the series for years now, plus the girl looks like Angelina Jolie back in her Girl Interrupted days. My TTT.

Now that you mention it, that model’s waist really is too small compared to the rest of her body. Now I can’t not see it when I look at the cover! Thanks a lot… ;)

And I have The Vampire Academy on my list too – that’s why I haven’t read the series, to be honest. I just can’t get past the awful cover.

Your cover re-do for Wallbanger is hilarious. LOL! The knees thing was what I noticed the first time I saw this cover. So weird. Also agree with Through the Zombie Glass.

How did the designer not notice the optical illusion to Wallbanger? It’s so obvious and distracting.

I really like the covers of landline and teardrop. But I totally agree on the Richelle.Mead covers. Fortunately I live in the Netherlands and we have the most beautiful covers for VA and bloodlines.
