Judge A Book By Its Signature: Avalon – Mindee Arnett

judgeabook

I don’t know about you, but my signature is downright ugly. And lame. Let’s not forget lame. Every time I sign my name on something, whether it be a receipt or a new credit card, I wince inside. I don’t know how people come up with such awesome pretty signatures. I’m totally out of the loop with that.

One day, after getting multiple books signed, I thought what if instead of judging a book by its cover, you judge the book by the author’s signature? Will the author’s signature attract you to the book? Will you still buy the book then?

This week, I’m featuring Avalon by Mindee Arnett.

cover

There’s no doubt about it, the cover of Avalon is gorgeous. However, I do have a problem with it: What on Earth is on the top part of the cover? It looks like this weird machine-like thing tied up in some sort of web…maybe. Who knows, it’s hard to tell with the cover of Avalon.

Not really. The cover of Avalon doesn’t completely attract and hold my attention since I don’t know what the thing on top of the book cover is.

signature

Every time I see Mindee Arnett’s signature, I’m surprised. It’s just so sharp and curvy, with no tiny holes in her “d”‘s or “e”‘s. I know she always signs books like that since I also have a copy of her other book, The Nightmare Affair, signed by her.

No. It’s just not my style.

Will you buy Avalon based on the author’s signature alone?

The cover is really interesting, but also nothing mindblowing! And I’m not a big fan of the signature. Although mine is a lot worse, so I don’t know if I have a right to judge! :P

That’s exactly how I feel! The only reason I’m interested in the cover is because of that mysterious thing at the top of the cover.
Ha ha, in my feature we can judge, don’t worry. ;D
I’m sadly not a fan of the signature either.

I really like the cover too! I have no idea what the top thing is supposed to be. It kind of looks like a dragon face to me. Just barely. Lol. (At first, I thought you had written what type of Earth is that and I was like o_O “I don’t see Earth?” LOLL. That’s what I get for reading too fast. ;D) If I didn’t read the synopsis, I wouldn’t have given this book a second thought. Mindee Arnett’s signature is cute.

It looks like half a spaceship, half plants? I dunno. You can have a closer look when you have the cover in your hands. ;P
