I don’t know about you, but my signature is downright ugly. And lame. Let’s not forget lame. Every time I sign my name on something, whether it be a receipt or a new credit card, I wince inside. I don’t know how people come up with such awesome pretty signatures. I’m totally out of the loop with that.
One day, after getting multiple books signed, I thought what if instead of judging a book by its cover, you judge the book by the author’s signature? Will the author’s signature attract you to the book? Will you still buy the book then?
This week, I’m featuring The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead.
Will you buy The Indigo Spell based on the author’s signature alone?
I totally know what you mean by the spines; they look really stunning matched up together. I haven’t read this series, and not her VA ones either, but I feel like they wouldn’t be my thing so I still haven’t started one. Her signature is cute though :) Thanks for sharing, Kelly! <33

I can just stare at the spines all day. <3
If you like really serious books instead of fun and drama-filled books, the Vampire Academy series may not be your thing Eileen. Otherwise, you'll love it. ;D

I like lovely signatures too. Sadly, i don’t think mine is all that either lol but I don’t mind a messy signature by someone else, as long as the book’s prettiness makes up for it :)

Ha ha, I’m afraid to show people my signature because it’s just a MESS.

I think I would buy them for the signature. I like how.. flowy it looks, with that fancy R.

Richelle Mead’s “R” is definitely my favorite part of her signature! :D

IDK if I’d buy Richelle Mead’s books based on her signature. It’s really pretty and loopy. However, I will buy these books regardless of her signature or the hideous covers because ADRIAN IVASHKOV. <3<3<3<3
(Mannn, looking at that picture reminds me of how much I need to get the first book. :\)
Pshh, -shoves you away with your Adrian Ivashkov-.
Yes, you have to get the first book. Otherwise, how will your books match? :P

Hmm I’m not sure whether I’ll read her books based on her signature. It’s kinda not attractive imo haha, sorry Richelle Mead! I still think Richelle Mead is a fantastic author. :)

Everyone has different tastes when it comes to signatures, so it’s okay. ;D
Richelle Mead is definitely a great author! :D

For me, I don’t actually like this signature. It’s kind of messy for my taste but that’s only because I spend too much time looking and scripty fonts for Photoshop.
I haven’t read this series and with the way the VA movie is looking, I don’t know if I want to… lol. Also vampires; I’m very wary of vampires.
Great post <333

Well, you have the right to judge MISS WHO HAS A BEYOND AWESOME SIGNATURE. ;D
Ugh, the VA movie is ruining things for people who want to read the books. But believe me, the VA series is A LOT of fun. And who cares if they’re vampires? ;P
Thanks! <3<3

I don’t think I like the cover or the signature LOL. The covers look sort of strange (but I love the spines) and the signature’s not very pretty. :(
The covers are definitely strange; we’re not the only ones who think that. The spines are so pretty though! :D<3

This is such an interesting idea! Buying books based on the author’s signature xD The only signed book I have is Clockwork Princess, and Clare’s signature is…interesting? You’re so lucky that you have so many signed books! And I agree with you when it comes to the covers and the spines: they’re wonderful put together but horrible on their own. I’m just not very into “face” covers. Some are alright, I guess, but most are just cheesy.
T
I’ve seen Cassandra Clare’s many signatures (trust me, she has more than one – I suggest you google them) and all of them just looks plain lazy to me. :l
I can understand why though – you’re a popular author and you have SO many books to sign, but still, I can’t help but judge. :P
These signed books took 2 years of collecting. Like every time there’s an event in my area, I will go 80% of the time.
I’m not into face covers either. The spines meanwhile, <3.

Back when I read The Vampire Academy series I absolutely loved Richelle Mead. I think I would still love the books if I read them now but I never ended up starting the Bloodlines series. I think I will eventually, but for right now I won’t. Yes, I’m not a fan of the covers of this spinoff series but I would probably still purchase them. Her signature would make me more inclined to buy a copy even though I don’t find it all that pretty, because I loved her other books and having a signed copy would be awesome. I have a few signed books (a few as in 3) and I am jealous because I want more. If I were to base my purchase entirely on her signature, or heck the book cover, it would be a big no.
Ha ha, I’m kind of the opposite. I want to finish the VA series asap so I can start the Bloodlines series.
Signed books always have that effect on us; this book is signed? -immediate buy (or at almost immediate buy)-

I do have to admit – the covers aren’t the greatest. Not really a fan of who they chose as Sydney and Adrian – although I do love how Adrian looks on the cover of Silver Shadows. I don’t know what it is, but I find the angle to be pretty amazing haha
The spine designs are lovely though – and I am a bit jealous that you got them signed. I’ve never actually been to an author signing :/
I’m hoping to go the LA Times Festival of Books in April, but I’m not entirely sure that I will go. I know a few years ago Richelle Mead was there – is it too much to hope that she’ll be there again?o.o
