Believe me, I wasn’t a fan of twitter before. In fact, I resented it. I told myself I would NEVER make a twitter because it was lame and probably overrated, even though the giveaways I entered kept urging me to so. (I wonder how many of you are offended right now. In my defense, I didn’t know how much twitter will change my life. I just thought it was some lame social media gimmick. I mean, Facebook is enough right?)
I don’t remember why I made a twitter in the first place. It doesn’t really matter since once I got into the awesomeness that is twitter, I completely changed my mind about it. I don’t think I can even live without twitter now. I love reading about people’s lives without them knowing (yes, I twitter stalk, shhh!), I love seeing people’s opinions on books I want to read or books that I’ve already read, and I just love the inspiration people on twitter give me. Someone just wrote 5 reviews that day? Hey, maybe I can do that too!
Okay, this might sound all cheesy now, but without twitter, I wouldn’t have met some awesome people in my life and gotten to know them very well, like the awesome Cee from The Novel Hermit (aka the person who I have #randomhashtagconversationswith that probably annoy a majority of my followers, but who cares?). I would have also never met Jessi from Novel Heartbeat without twitter either (did you know twitter basically introduced my blog to her and helped start an awesome friendship?).
Twitter is also a great way to help promote your blog, especially with the Tweet Old Post plugin for WordPress. The Tweet Old Post plugin helps you tweet some of your old blog posts, which introduces and highlights your old blog posts again to people who might have missed seeing that post before.
There is one big twitter no-no though: Do not use your twitter only to post links (like those giveaway links) or plain retweet. Interact with people! You do not know how many awesome people I met and chatted with using twitter, people I would have never have met if it wasn’t for twitter.
In the end, what I’m trying to say is don’t be like the old foolish me. You can’t live without twitter. No, seriously, you can’t.
How about you? Do you love twitter as much as I do or do you hate it? And isn’t the GIF I used for this post SO adorable?
