Judge A Book By Its Signature: Legend, Prodigy + Champion – Marie Lu

judgeabook

I don’t know about you, but my signature is downright ugly. And lame. Let’s not forget lame. Every time I sign my name on something, whether it be a receipt or a new credit card, I wince inside. I don’t know how people come up with such awesome pretty signatures. I’m totally out of the loop with that.

One day, after getting multiple books signed, I thought what if instead of judging a book by its cover, you judge the book by the author’s signature? Will the author’s signature attract you to the book? Will you still buy the book then?

This week, I’m featuring Legend, Prodigy, and Champion by Marie Lu.

cover

I like the covers of Legend, Prodigy, and Champion in this order from the cover I like the least to the cover I like the most: Legend, Prodigy, and Champion. I like the covers of both Legend and Prodigy, but I don’t love them. Champion, however, is a whole another story. I love everything about the cover: the rose, the bullet hole, the mix of colors used, everything.

For Legend and Prodigy, nah. I’ll definitely buy Champion based on the cover alone though, without knowing anything like what the book is about. I like the cover That much.

signature

I LOVE Marie Lu’s signature! It is the perfect combination of girly (those swirls! The heart! The loopy “L”!) and her handwriting is so nice-looking. I wish my signature is as amazing looking as hers.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!

Will you buy Legend, Prodigy, and Champion based on the author’s signature alone?

I’m big fan of Marie Lu and I love her Legend Trilogy! I would definitely get a signed book from her if I could! <3 :) Sadly, she doesn't have any signings near me. Otherwise, I'd love to meet her in person and have her sign the book!

I’m sitting here wondering how in the world does she do that M in her name? How did she come to writing her M’s like that? I love her signature. It’s pretty, neatly done and I can tell it’s still her name.

I guess when you know that you’re going to be spending a good chunk of your time signing stuff, it makes sense to practice to make it look pretty! In my case, it would probably be hopeless. I don’t know how bad your signature is, Kelly, but I think it’s safe to assume mine is worse!
