Judge A Book By Its Signature: Curtsies & Conspiracies – Gail Carriger

judgeabook

I don’t know about you, but my signature is downright ugly. And lame. Let’s not forget lame. Every time I sign my name on something, whether it be a receipt or a new credit card, I wince inside. I don’t know how people come up with such awesome pretty signatures. I’m totally out of the loop with that.

One day, after getting multiple books signed, I thought what if instead of judging a book by its cover, you judge the book by the author’s signature? Will the author’s signature attract you to the book? Will you still buy the book then?

I know I haven’t done any Judge A Book By Its Signature feature for the longest time, but guess what, I’m back with it! This week, I’m featuring Curtsies & Conspiracies by Gail Carriger.

cover

I love the cover of Curtsies & Conspiracies. I love the colors used, the pattern in the background, and the color of the font. Best of all, it looks totally awesome when put with the other books in the series.

Not alone, but I will buy the book when it’s with the rest of its series so it will match. Matching book covers are very important to me.

signature

I was really disappointed when I saw Gail Carriger’s signature. Granted, I am still disappointed with it. It’s just so lacking and sloppy. It also looks like there wasn’t much effort put into it.

Sorry, but no.

Do you like the cover of Curtsies & Conspiracies? Do you like the author’s signature?

It looks more like someone accidentally scraped with his pen over the page.. I don’t think I would really call that a signature, what a shame! I’d buy the book for the cover though and I love her other series, but I wouldn’t buy it for the signature.

I don’t think I would go for it just by the signature either. Like you said, it’s sloppy :/ I know lots of people went and had their signatures redesigned (or something like that) once they got famous or when they knew they have to sign lots of stuff (like Jack Lew). So yes, I’m definitely a bit disappointed. I will probably buy the book though cause Gail Carriger is just full of awesomeness :D

Lol I agree with you. I wouldn’t buy this book just for the signature either because it looks sloppy and has no effort haha. Maybe she was in a rush?

That is such a bummer. I definitely would be disappointed in that signature. I loved the cover for this one, I still like it but after reading the series was not for me, so I am a bit less excited about the beautiful covers.

You know, how she signs her last name looks a lot like how I do my last name. I love this series but I wouldn’t buy it based off of her signature.
