Today, I’m introducing a book that I’m sure would make you guys very hungry when you see it on the shelves today. Yes you guessed it, I’m talking about HUNGRY by H.A. Swain! Read on and make sure to enter the giveaway for a finished copy of HUNGRY, courtesy of Macmillan!

Summary:

In Thalia’s world, there is no more food and no need for food, as everyone takes medication to ward off hunger. Her parents both work for the company that developed the drugs society consumes to quell any food cravings, and they live a life of privilege as a result. When Thalia meets a boy who is part of an underground movement to bring food back, she realizes that there is an entire world outside her own. She also starts to feel hunger, and so does the boy. Are the meds no longer working?
Together, they set out to find the only thing that will quell their hunger: real food. It’s a journey that will change everything Thalia thought she knew. But can a “privy” like her ever truly be part of a revolution?

Now time for some quotes from HUNGRY that would, of course, make you guys hungry! Writing up this post made me extremely hungry too.

*Please note that these quotes are taken from the ARC, so things may change in the final copy.

“There was nothing better than fresh goat cheese. Except for warm bread to put it on.” (ARC 11-12)

I’m now officially starving. Off to scavenge for food in the kitchen.

I’m really excited about this book, but I’m starting to think I might need to stock up the fridge before I start reading it.

This question caught my off gaurd, lol. . .I look forward to hamburgers. How can you live w/ out tasting a nicely loaded, juicy burger!
Can’t wait to read. This plot is very different from other YA books out now to me.

You weren’t kidding when you said it would make us hungry! Somehow, when I saw Hungry on Goodreads, it didn’t kindle my curiosity (though I totes love the cover), but now… I think I’ll give this one a try once it comes out.

In the meantime, thanks for the visual feast. I’m now going to scamper off to make some french fries. Bye ;)

Do you hear that low rumbling in the distance? That is my stomach. It craves buttery goodness. And I totally want french fries now ugh thanks a lot xD but this book looks really cool! It’s a neat concept, and I think it can be tied into how today a lot of food is processed. It quells the hunger but it isn’t real food kind of thing.

I’m super interested to see where Swain is going to go with this story and how she’s going to handle conflict. I’m looking forward to seeing icecream and oh my god those pictures and quotes about food sound/look so amazing and I’m hungry now….

Thank you for the giveaway! What I like about this book is that it’s a dystopian with a really specific issue. Not having to eat food is crazy-talk and I think it’s so interesting that Swain chose to follow that idea. I will need to stock up on food before I read this, for sure, haha.

The whole idea of this book sounds a little ridiculous if you ask me, but hey, it’s a dystopia (about food?) so in willing to give it a chance :)

After seeing those pictures, I feel hungry myself. And the food I look forward to reading in the book are probably all those pictures. But what I really look forward to reading about is how someone experiences delicious food for the first time. We eat everything and different foods all the time so we hardly know the feeling of something new. I think it would be great to experience it from someone else :)

That chicken looks so delicious. And I could always go for French fries. I would say apples, but they don’t look like Fuji, and they are the only kind I like to eat. :)
