Let’s Speculate: When It Comes To Swag…

letsspeculate

I’ve asked this question on twitter before, but since I’m still curious about this topic, I want to know your input on it.

I was cleaning up my desk since my parents ordered me to (I hate cleaning up my desk – I end up losing more things than before I actually clean up) and found that I had tons of swag…everywhere. There were sticker swag, bookmark swag, button swag, double copies of some swag, triple copies of others – there were just swag everywhere. All my swag piled up high measured up to be three inches tall. That’s just scary.

I was literally drowning in swag.

swag

This is just some of my swag.

Now my question to you guys is, where do you put all your swag? I was thinking about putting all my swag into a box, but the only non-cardboard box I have is too small to fit all my tall swag bookmarks. I don’t have any empty cabinets or desk room to put all my swag in either.

So yes, I want to know, where do you guys put all your swag?

I have a lot of mine in a picture box I bought awhile, back, and I also have big cork board that I pinned a lot of stuff on.

I have mine placed in cute jars are mugs throughout my room. The excess goes into a drawer in my desk. Although, I would encourage you to invest into a nice sturdy box that could fit under your bed, or on the bottom shelf of a shelf. That way you have all you swag all together, but it’s in one place where it won’t get ripped, torn, or bent.

Hah. I don’t have a lot of swag. The bit that I do have is in different books (bookmarks and stickers). That’s, uhm, it? If I had a lot I would do the corkboard thing though!

I use the box that my Dorothy Must Die ARC came in, and it fits all of the bookmarks I own. It is getting pretty full, so I think I’m going to have to start putting some of my swag somewhere else. Maybe try stashing bookmarks in an old pencil cup or mug or something along those lines?

All of my swag is separated into two different places. Half of them can be found in a shoebox that is properly labeled “Box O’ Swag” and sits on my bookshelf. Another half can be found in a big tote bag that can be found on the floor of my room, since I’m too lazy to move it. And, I almost forgot about these, but if I own a copy of the book, I place the swag (if it’s flat) in the matching book. My ways of “organizing” my swag are no exactly the best. I should probably organize them better!

I put mine in either a plastic chocolate container and those exclusive cups you can get at the theatres. I always keeps them in case they come in handy and I guess you can say they did for my bookish swags. :D

This is probably not helpful, but I end up shoving them on the lips of my bookshelves. I end up using a lot of them as bookmarks (even if they’re not technically bookmarks) so having them right next to my books is a matter of convenience for me. But then again I don’t have nearly as much swag as you do, so maybe just get a plastic box for a few bucks from the store?

I don’t have swag, however, if I did I would do one of two things. I would either build a special scrapbook and put everything in it that was worth keeping all relating to book/author swag. That way it’s in one nice big book that you could put anywhere and would be fun to look at down the road, plus adding your personal notes and pictures with it. OR, I would buy a fancy box specifically for it. Boxes don’t have to be really expensive. I just bought one a couple of weeks ago that looks like a miniature old fashioned trunk but it’s about 1 foot x 10 inches x 18 or so inches. The top is rounded like the old trunks and it’s got fancy little handles and locks on it and it’s wallpapered in really fancy paper. I paid $18.99 for it, but it also gave me an idea of how easy it would be to actually make a box. You can get all different shaped boxes at some place like Michael’s Crafts and then dress it up yourself. I’m not saying this is what YOU should do, but I think this is what I would do (and have with other items) if I had a ton of swag and didn’t know what to do with it.

When you do decide how to store you swag, please post a picture. I’d love to see it.

I was just cleaning mine yesterday! I was choosing the ones I’d like to keep and the one’s I’ll give away. I basically just put them in a large ziplock bag.

I don’t nearly have as much as you, but I keep my bookmarks in a jar that used to contain that Fluff stuff (the marshmallowy stuff). Other than that, I don’t actually have any other swag. I do like my bookmarks though, so thought they should at least be displayed somewhere!

    ………I don’t have any………. :'(

But if I did I think if it was signed I’d buy a cute box to keep it in, if it isn’t I’d use it – bookmarks/badges etc. Or use it in giveaways!

You know those storage boxes that look like books? Like, they have a hinged lid and everything. (Like this: http://www.amazon.com/WL61411-World-Leather-Faux-Boxes/dp/B004DFPG8E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1403045127&sr=8-1&keywords=book+box) I have one that’s about 11″ x 12″, and I store all my swag in there. I’ve more than filled it, though, so I guess I need to either go through and get rid of some of it or buy another box!

I don’t have too much swag, because we hardly ever get author events where I live, so it’s mostly just Book Depo bookmarks lol. I just shove them in a box :P

I don’t have much swag, so I have everything in envelopes :) Magnets are on my magnetic board and I use the tote bag I won for my school laboratory equipment. So, almost everything is put to use!

I mostly put swag in the trash… eek. I just don’t care all that much about it. Bookmarks or collectors card I will stash in unread books that way I have a place marker at my fingertips whenever I go to read the book, but I’m not a huge swag fan.

I have this really bright red postal bag that a book once came in and it’s quite big and I store all my swag in there :D Grated, I don’t have a lot but the bag is pretty full. And whenever I feel like taking a pick at my uber special signed swag, I just open up my pretty red postal bag, haha :D
Which itself has quite a weird story. I got a review copy from a UK based publishing house and they sent the book out to me and it took AGES to arrive, and when it came it had ‘MISSENT TO CANADA’ on the front, which is why it took so long. And that’s the red postal bag I use for my swag :D My address is also written in pink gel pen on the cover, so I like that, too, haha :D

I don’t get much swag, but when I do, I usually put it on my bookcase if I like it and want to keep it or in my garage if it’s not necessarily my favorite (okay…that sounds really evil, but it’s the truth!). Definitely an interesting question though! Thanks for sharing!

I don’t have much swag, tbh — your picture right there is a fairly accurate representation of the amount of swag I have right now. ;) Because I don’t want to just shove them into my drawer and let them get bent all over, so I keep them in a sort of small, flimsy cardboard box where most of them are too long for (so their corners still get bent anyway), but I haven’t had the time to clear up my room and find a new place for them… so that’s where they’ll be staying for the next few months, probably. :P

You have some pretty sweet swag, though! :D

I like swag a little too much :D

But in all seriousness, I have all of my swag in this HUGE plastic container I bought in Target. One day, I might put everything into a giant album or something. It’s so much though O_O
