I’ve always wanted to start booktubing.
I’ve always had tons of ideas, ranging from the obvious like doing book hauls and filming book reviews. I map out everything I want to vlog about in my head, planning exactly what would happen and what I’ll say, but in the end, it just never happens.
The thing is, even though I want to start booktubing, I’m just too lazy to sit down and actually start recording things. (Let’s not mention that my computer camera is also pretty much low quality and the amount of editing I’ll have to do for the videos.)
I’ve been making so many excuses for myself for why I’m not booktubing: I have to do other things first, uploading videos onto Youtube will take too long (I once had to wait seven hours to upload a 30 second high quality video), I just don’t have the time right now, you know, all the obvious excuses.
Honestly, at this rate, I don’t think I’ll ever be booktubing. I just don’t have the patience to film an entire video, edit it, and then upload it, even though I have a ton of ideas. Patience is definitely not one of my traits.
How about you guys? Have you ever thought of booktubing and did you ever end up doing it? Or are you guys lazy like I am and just want to sit around and sleep? I want to know!
Your reasons are the same reasons why I’m not a booktuber – and add the fact that I would feel compelled to dress up every time I did one. :/ So I just never got around to it either!

Oh… sitting around and sleeping sounds great! Love that idea! LOL It would be good to vlog, but I’m camera shy so it wouldn’t work. I could pretend my dog is talking and set the books around him I suppose. hehe
I don’t feel brave enough. On the other hand, I’d like to do it to practice my English. It just won’t happen anytime soon! :)
Also, I’m too lazy to put on makeup and stuff xD

I really really want to start booktubing but I am not allowed WHICH SUCKS as i have loads of ideas and it looks fun and aah. But, if I was allowed i’d be really nervous because my face disgusts me and I don’t ever wear make-up so i’d constantly feel self-conscious.

You know, even though I have a minor in film, I’ve never been interested in book tubing. It’s probably because I only like to watch book hauls. I’m not really into watching anything else from book tubers. Also with the whole sponsoring videos thing going on, I’m always extremely skeptical of book reviews by book tubers more so than blogs. So it makes not sense for me to book tube if I’m not interested in watching videos. Plus, I’m also lazy and don’t have the time to put into creating and editing a video on a regular basis.

When I first discovered the book tube community, I was in awe because the booktubers were really cool with super cool videos. I wanted to become a book tuber as well because it looks really fun, but then I realized how much time consuming it is compared to blogging. I think setting up a blog post is way faster than filming a video, editing it, and then waiting for it to upload. With blogging, I can just write my post and schedule it. I think I don’t have the patience of being a booktuber.
I thought about booktubing for a while, but I ended up blogging! I think it’s just the formatting that keeps me from booktubing and seeing all the current booktubers. I read mostly books from the library/on my Kindle which I don’t think would translate very well to camera and I find it so much easier to blog. I don’t have to get all dressed up or edit. Especially now since more booktubers are getting more sponsored and having problems with growing channels, I think bloggers already have it figured out.

I’ve been thinking about booktubing a lot and it’s just something I won’t do because like you, there’s poor cameras and no patience for editing and stuff. I’ve kind of compromised and started an instagram, where I can try pics and short videos and see if I feel like doing more. :p

I have thought about Booktubing several times! In my mind it would take less time to film a haul over getting all the books cover image and links into a post. Would this be faster? Probably not after the 15th copy and paste it starts looking promising. One thing that has really stopped me from Booktube is editing. I know it would take me forever, especially in the beginning. I’m not charming enough to film the whole thing in one take and editing that would be my nightmare.

I am booktubing at the moment! I’m not sure how long I will keep up with it, but it’s fun and SCARY. I really don’t like to hear myself talking, especially because I have the idea I say things weirdly.. and I don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera now, the quality is crappy, I suck at editing etc. and still all these things doesn’t take away that I enjoy myself too. I’ve only recorded a book haul & wrap-up so far, but I plan to do a tag some time too.

I actually just started booktubing within the last two months. I always thought it would be a lot of work, but I suggest starting with a bookhaul for your first video. It makes the introduction to filming yourself fun and as you film more you learn more about how you like to film and what you want to film!

I think having a BookTube would be FUN! But …I lack any and all skills involving filmography. So, it would be an epic fail. If you ever get around to it, I’ll just watch you :D

I can so perfectly relate! I also was thinking of adding a few videos here and there, but then I can also find tons of excesses why not to do it. And yes it is tons of work. A few years ago, I did some Mailbox videos but then I spend too much time on them, so I stopped!

I’ve done a few book hauls, but just with my computer, so the video quality is low. It takes a lot more effort than writing up a blog post. However, if I have the time, it is fun. It’s nice to switch things up. I would never give up blogging completely to do booktubing stuff.

For the longest time I wanted to booktube so after a while I just took the leap to do it. I agree that it is a very lengthy process from filming to uploading so I don’t do it too often but once in a while, it’s a fun change from just typing away at my computer. I suppose it’s also not as bad for me because I’ve decided to opt out of editing and just film it straight which does increase the number of awkward moments but is so much faster! Like honestly for me it came down to do I care enough about making me seem a little more perfect and making this video a little bit more polished to spend another two hours on editing? And the answer to that was no so I don’t edit and I think it’s fine honestly! Of course it does take a couple takes to get it done but I don’t mind it. And OH MY GOD, uploading to Youtube is such a hassle. SO SLOW. I don’t understand what people do with their 25 minute long videos. But mine are usually in the 6-15 minute range which equals about two hours and a bit more and I find that time is a good way for me to buckle down and get some blogging stuff done!

Oh! Loads of times! I even tried once. I made my YouTube page all nice and pretty, and added all my links to social media. I even filmed a video, but I got too distracted with trying to explain everything perfectly that in the end I got really mad at myself. I still think it would be cool to booktube, but right now I think my main focus should be my blog. Also, I’m too lazy right now.

I only discovered the blogging community through watching Booktube videos and when I started my blog I also started Booktube videos although it is REALLY time consuming and I cringe editing all of the footage but it’s been worthwhile for me because I feel a lot more confident when talking about books in front of people. I rarely review books in video form but I do hauls and A LOT if tags because they are so much fun to film! Seriously try the book tower challenge the the panic which ensues is so funny

I’ve heard about booktubing, but I’ve never gone and watched any videos. I’m just not a video-watching kind of person honestly. When people post book haul videos, I tend to skip them because I’m lazy and I can’t skim a video like I can a blog post. I’ve considered doing short videos before, but then I realize I hate cameras because I’m awkward and my teeth are horrible so I toss that idea out immediately XD

So many times I’ve had the thought of joining Booktube but never did. Probably because I knew that if I did join, I’d have to be consistent and with school in the way, that would probably be highly unlikely. So I’m thinking perhaps when I’m older, say 18?, when I’m outta high school I may consider joining Booktube. But for now, blogging is the most easiest, fastest way to share my passion for books. :)

I really want to start booktubing (I already have a lot of ideas) and I would have started already but I still live in with my parents (I’m only 14 almost 15) and every time I start filming a video somebody from my family calls me because they need me to do something. That or something else pops up. I do plan on starting at least filming SOMETHING.
