Till It Arrives: Beware The Wild – Natalie C. Parker

Till It Arrives is inspired by Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner’s Save the Date feature. Sometimes I read books that are not released anytime soon, but I want to share some of my feelings on the book right away, so Till It Arrives is born! (It also allows me to read books that appear later in my schedule, so that’s awesome too.) Since I don’t usually use GIFs in my reviews, I thought I’ll use plenty of GIFs to describe my feelings for the book I’m talking about in this feature!

Summary:

A southern gothic novel with a twist reminiscent of Shiver and Beautiful Creatures
It’s an oppressively hot and sticky morning in June when Sterling and her brother, Phin, have an argument that compels him to run into the town swamp – the one that strikes fear in all the residents of Sticks, Louisiana. Phin doesn’t return. Instead, a girl named Lenora May climbs out, and now Sterling is the only person in Sticks who remembers her brother ever existed.
Sterling needs to figure out what the swamp’s done with her beloved brother and how Lenora May is connected to his disappearance – and loner boy Heath Durham might be the only one who can help her.
This debut novel is full of atmosphere, twists and turns, and a swoon-worthy romance.

First Sentence: It’s no secret, ours is the meanest swamp in Louisiana.

I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review.

My Review:
A Tale of I’m Glad I Don’t Live There:

When I first saw that Beware The Wild is about a swamp that swallows people up and spits one back out:

whoawow

When I saw how creepy and disgusting the swamp was:

ew

When I saw Sterling’s dedication to saving her brother:

aww

My one constant thought throughout the book:

purell

To sum the book up in a GIF:

germslifechanging

Wait, so… did you like this book or not? Haha I can tell you have a lot of nasty/sanitizing feels and what not, but I’m definitely curious to see your full thoughts on it! I have an eARC of this myself, so I’m really intrigued. Thanks for your entertaining GIF thoughts!

I enjoyed this one, but it isn’t one of my favorites. It was pretty much an okay read – I gave it 3 stars. o:
My review for this one would be up October 20 if you want a full non-GIF review. It’s just too bad I can’t post a full review THIS early and will have to wait, even though my review is fully written up already.
I hope you’ll enjoy this one Jen!

Lol, being that I’ve lived in Florida my whole life, and having been to the Everglades a few times, I can safely say that your reactions to swamp conditions in on point! But this story really does sound intriguing. I’ve not heard if anything quite like it before and am quite looking forward to your full review. I hope it is able to live up to the awesome premise the summary sets up!
