Welcome to the third and last day of my blogoversary! I hope you enjoyed reading my other two posts!
Today I want to celebrate all my favorite books of the year because everyone needs to read them. They are not limited to books releasing this year, but can also be books released before 2014 that I now just read.
Just a note, this list is in no particular order because how can we choose?
Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
First of all, Frank Freakin’ Porter is mine. Remember that, mine. Okay, now that I’ve got that cleared, we can move on. Those of you who know me very well know that contemporaries aren’t usually my thing. Contemporaries usually bore me to death, but guys, I absolutely loved, loved, loved Since You’ve Been Gone. This book has friendships, it has romance, it has realistic struggles, and it has ALL THE FEELS. Like seriously, I had to stop reading Since You’ve Been Gone when I was 25% into the book and just wonder how Morgan Matson knew exactly what and how I will feel if I was put in Emily’s situation.
Split Second by Kasie West
YOU GUYS. THIS BOOK. THIS BOOK. -waves around Split Second frantically.- You guys just HAVE TO read this book! Not only is there two swoony guys that I still can’t choose between (and I read this book all the way back in February), but there are also tons of sweet moments in Split Second that made me squeal like a crazy person. Honestly, I didn’t really see the appeal of Kasie West’s books until Split Second came along. Split Second was the book that made me change my mind about Kasie West’s books.
Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley
This book was built for me. I was always interested in books about the military and putting a female character that isn’t wanted there in the military basically screams READ THIS BOOK KELLY YOU NEED THIS BOOK DESPERATELY at me. There were a lot of things that could go wrong in a book like this, but surprisingly, Rites of Passage was perfect. In fact, I love Rites of Passage so much that when I was looking up quotes to use in my review for it, I couldn’t help but have a wide goofy grin on my face when I read anything from the book.
In A Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis
I knew I would love In A Handful of Dust when I first saw that Mindy McGinnis was writing it. How could I not love it when I really enjoyed Mindy McGinnis’ debut novel, Not A Drop To Drink, you know, the book that nearly broke me? I’m happy to report that In A Handful of Dust is just as good as its predecessor and will leave you wanting MORE like its predecessor.
Cress by Marissa Meyer
One word: Thorneeeee. Or maybe even three words: Throne is mine. But seriously, if you haven’t read Cress or The Lunar Chronicles series yet, you are definitely missing out on some epicness, laughter, Sailor Moon action, and tears. What are you waiting for, grab a copy already!
Also, what are your favorite books that you’ve read in 2014? I want some recommendations!
So, moving on to part two of this post. What are some of my most anticipated 2015 favorite releases?
Hint: You have to play a Cover Guessing Game to find out! But don’t worry, the prize is totally worth it.
What can you win?
Just so you guys know, Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson, Winterspell by Claire Legrand, and Cress by Marissa Meyer are all SIGNED by the author. Split Second by Kasie West is sadly not signed.
Now onto the Cover Guessing Game!
The Rules + Hints:
- The books used in this Book Cover Guessing Game are all young adult books that are released in 2015.
- At first, I wanted to give the prize to the first person who guessed all the above book covers correctly, but I figured that it would be unfair to people in different time zones. Therefore, I will allow Rafflecopter to pick the winner. However, the winner the Rafflecopter picks must have all the correct answers to win or all their entries will be eliminated and I will choose a new winner. Sorry about that, but hey, all the Cover Guessing Game entries are not required. Do the Cover Guessing Game at your own risk.
- Rafflecopter (sometimes) does not let you change your answer once you input your answer in. If you do want to change your answer for any book cover after submitting your old answer to the Rafflecopter, simply email me at whatisakelly(at)gmail(dot)com with the subject “Distract Cover Guessing Game Answer” with your new book cover answer and the name you used to enter the contest.
- If the Rafflecopter does not accept your answers, just email me your answers at whatisakelly(at)gmail(dot)com with the subject “Blogoversary Guessing Game.”
Good luck everyone & let the guessing game begin! ;D
- This contest is open INTERNATIONALLY.
- The giveaways will run until November 1, 2014.
- You must be 18 years or older, or have parents’ permission to enter.
- All your entries will be disqualified if you pickup entries for something you haven’t done. (I had to do this for so many of my last giveaways, please don’t make me do this again.)
- If you only use ONE account to do all these tasks and enter under different names, they will still only constitute as ONE entry.
- If the winner does not respond to my e-mail within 48 hours, I will have to choose another winner.
- I am not responsible for any items lost in the mail.
And before you go, don’t forget to stop by my two other posts celebrating my blogoversary!

This cover guessing game wasn’t easy at all, but I like it this way… It’s funnier if it’s hard to find the answers! I think I have guessed 6 out 12 books but I’m not so sure anymore! xD
The best books I’ve read in 2014… mmm, this year I finally read Colleen Hoover and I loved every single one of her books (my favourite is Maybe Someday), I also really enjoyed Heir of Fire, Ruin and Rising, Ignite Me, Rebel Belle and Never Fade!
What are YOUR favorite books that you’ve read in 2014?
My favourite books so far have to be the Throne of Glass books and Angelfall <3 Loved them!
My favorite books so far in 2014 have been;
Splintered(I read it at the beginning of the year) & Unhinged by A.G. Howard
The Kiss of Deception
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout
And of course The Lunar Chronicles
All i’m sure you’ve already read.
I loved reading Origin by Jennifer Armentrout, I also loved reading the Legend Series by Marie Lu!!!
My favorite book this year is The Winner’s Curse. I love it so much. This guessing game was a lot easier to me this time around.
Wow, that was actually a lot of fun, plus I now have a list of books that I want to request for review. I have to admit that it was a bit challenging though! My favorite books I’ve read this year are City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett, Songbird by Danielle Jensen, Crushed by Eliza Crewe, Half a King by Joe Abercrombie, and Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson.
Monica M recently posted…Blog Tour and Review: Crushed by Eliza Crewe
Opposition by Jennifer Armentrout is the top book I read this year, followed closely by The White Rabbit Chronicles (Cole Holland people, he is SMOKIN). I really liked this guessing game, I actually got most of them so far.
OH MY GOD! This took me literally 2 hours to do! Especially number 2!
My favourite books this year were: The Kiss Of Deception, On The Fence, The Distance Between Us, The Selection series, and probably many more.
Some of the books I’ve read this year that surprised me – I didn’t realise how much I would enjoy them – are The Recluse Storyteller by Mark W. Sasse, Disruption by Jessica Shirvington, and The Other Me by Suzanne van Rooyen!
Also, I really enjoyed the cover guessing game and thought it was a good, medium difficulty. I had to search around a bit but I didn’t get too frustrated! :)

That was hard but I finally got all of them! My favorite book this year was “Jellicoe Road”. I’m really late on reading it but once I did read it it was instantly at the top of my favorites list. I also really liked “Torn Away”. It’s my first Jennifer Brown novel and I love it so much.
Kelly recently posted…Top Ten Books That Were Hard For Me To Read
I found most of them pretty easy (at least easier than some of your other cover guessing games) but holy moly, #10 was SO HARD. What was so frustrating was that I passed the cover several times but only got it right at the end -.- Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Blogoversary!! :D

I am not even TRYING that cover guessing game. Nope. I think I recognize two… maybe three…

I will have to come back to those covers! Need to give them some thought:)
So hard. So, so hard. I swear, I don’t recognise a single cover, even though that rabbit is totally adorable I don’t remember seeing it before!
I’ve read so many awesome books, but I particularly loved the Throne of Glass series! <3
Ok, srsly?! I didn’t know any of these books…
Anyway, the best book I’ve read this year was THE BOOK THIEF. And I also liked the first book I read this year, THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING, contradicting to your review the past time, I actually liked it.
Thanks for the giveaway and congrats for the years of blogging, Kelly!
Oh, my God! This was really hard, but I loved this game, I found some interesting books to my to-read list! :D But the 10 was the hardest to find… The 2nd and the 8th pictures was easy, they were on my to-read list before this game ;)))
Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Blogoversary! :)))
It was definitely challenging! But I had fun figuring out the answers :) I’m still missing a few but I’ll do my best to find them! As for my favorite books this year, I mostly read last books of a series/trilogy like Dreams of Gods and Monsters, Allegiant, Into The Still Blue, City of Heavenly Fire, and many many other great books and I loved every single one of them! So sad though that my favorite stories and worlds have come to a close.
AHH! This post IS THE BEST :D I would love to win so badly. <3 WINTERSPELL. CRESS. Dies. Signed too :D Ack. Want them so bad, hih. And YAY for Cress being a best book of this year :D So glad you loved it. <3 but hmm. I have read so many amazing books this year. I cannot choose. But best might be Winterspell. <3 And omg. Endsinger by Jay Kristoff. This trilogy is the devil. And so good. Anyway. I was wondering. I can still win though I didn't do the cover guessing game, right? Or must I do that as well to win? Either way, crossing my fingers. :)

I’m so working on the cover guessing game, and it’s medium so far…time for a break! I’d say my favorite book of 2014 is Divergent! Loved the book and movie :)
