Life Of A Blogger: Scents

lifeofablogger

Life Of A Blogger is hosted by the fabulous Jessi from Novel Heartbeat where we let people know more about our lives outside of blogging so they can get to know us better!

Ohh, what an interesting topic this week! There are some scents I like and some scents that I absolutely can’t stand and do away with forever if I could.

I love the scent of oranges. Like, LOVE them. I remember creeping out my friends at Bath & Body Works when I was walking around with a orange scented lotion, constantly smelling it. They didn’t like the scent of it, but I just loved it and let them know it too. It was funny seeing their faces when they heard that. -wink wink-

I also love the scent of fried chicken. It makes me want to grab some fried chicken for myself. I better stop talking about this because I’m making myself very hungry.

A scent I can’t stand is the scent that develops when people smoke. I don’t like it simply because inhaling cigarette smoke is dangerous for you (did you know that second-hand smoking is a lot worse than smoking the actual cigarette yourself? It’s because second-hand smoking doesn’t have any filters for people who inhale the smoke second-hand), but also because the smoke smells awful. Terrible. I don’t even know why people chose to smoke. I mean, have they bothered to smell their own breath?

I also hate the scent of ashtrays and people who smell like ashtrays from smoking too much. I literally have to walk away from those kind of people asap because I just can’t stand that smell.

Another scent I can’t stand is the scent of pickles and garlic. Not only do I not like eating those two vegetables (is garlic even a vegetable?), but those two have the worse scent ever. I shudder whenever my dad forces me to eat pickle because THAT SMELL. And the taste doesn’t help either.

The last scent I definitely can’t stand is the school, or really, any public bathroom scent. I’m sure a lot of you would agree with me on that. I only use public bathrooms when I absolutely need to, and when I do, I use it as fast as possible and rush it asap.

What scents do you like and can’t stand? Do you share the same likes and dislikes as I do when it comes to scents? I want to know!

I love the scent of lilacs. Not the remake scent that you get in soap or purfume… I despise that one… but the real live actual lilac flower. Love it. No one has ever been able to reproduce the lilac scent and have it smell like the real thing. Not any that I have smelled anyway.

Other than that, I love any fruity smells, especially peaches, all christmassy cinnamon and apple smells, and I love Alfred Sung perfume, especially my husband’s.

This might sound creepy – but when someone walks past, and this scent that reminds you of your mom’s body lotion or that cologne your dad keeps wearing or SOMETHING that ANYONE you know used to wear, I come down with a sudden bout of homesickness, it’s ridiculous.

I love the smell of amber. And coconuts. And I recently bought a food dehydrator that I use to make “sundried” tomatoes. It is a heavenly scent while those suckers are shriveling up.

As for dislikes – I generally don’t like anything too flowery. Certain scents make my eyes water and my throat tighten up.

I don’t know if you like to oranges (or if you just like to smell them :) ), but I recently cooked a citrus steak with pineapple and charred orange juice. The charred oranges taste and smell even better than regular oranges. Just cut an orange in half and put it in a pan with a bit of oil for a few minutes. SOOOO good!
