Ten Book Related Problems I Have

toptentuesday

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Ten Book Related Problems I Have. Ohh, today’s topic should be easy for me to do! I can just talk about things from my Let’s Speculate discussion posts. ;D

So here’s my list in no particular order:

1. The need to collect every edition of my favorite books and authors
My discussion post pretty much explains my need and goes more into depth about it, but yes, it’s a HUGE problem.

2. Being an indecisive mood reader
“Indecisive mood reader” pretty much explains it all. Being a mood reader is bad enough, but being an indecisive mood reader is pretty much a book lover’s worst problem.

3. I don’t read the book as carefully when I read it in an ebook format
My discussion post pretty much goes more into depth about this. The bottom line is, I read and analyze books a lot better when I read it in a physical format rather than when I read it as an ebook format.

4. I can’t read books written by the same author back to back
This is probably my worst problem ever. You guys may wonder, does this mean that you can’t binge a series Kelly? Probably. I’ve never tried it yet.

5. I don’t read book previews
I used to read book previews, but now I don’t. My discussion post goes more into depth into my book preview experience.

6. When you put a book down for awhile because of life…and then can’t really get back into it
It’s best for me to read an entire book in one sitting, but with school and life, it’s just not possible.

7. It’s hard to support indie bookstores…
especially when you’re a college student. I don’t like supporting Amazon, but to save money, I have to.

8. I absolutely have to own an entire book series if I own one, two, or even three book(s) in the series
So yeah. This is pretty much self explanatory. I’m working on this problem right now by giving away books I don’t want anymore and it’s pretty much going well.

9. I don’t have time to reread books
I still don’t have time to reread books today. That really needs to change.

10. I need to go on a book ban
I still do. I buy way too many books and I have absolutely no more room.

And now, I want to know, what are the top ten things you dislike when it comes to romance in books?

Haha, I totally agree with pretty much everything! There is no way I can reread books anymore. And I buy TOO MANY BOOKS despite the fact that I get them for free from publishers. Books are literally taking over my room! Great list :)

I would love to support indie bookstores, too, but yeah…I can’t either. I will always buy books from an indie if I attend an event, but I just can’t justify spending 50% more than I would at Amazon under “normal” circumstances.

I think collecting every edition of books from your favorite authors is OK – as long as you don’t have TOO many favorite authors. :)

Gorgeous post Kelly. <3 Love getting to know you a bit more, hih :) I also have a whole bunch of these problems. Ack! I need every edition of books that I love too, hih :) And yesss. It happens so often that I start reading a book, then have to put it down, and then I don't feel like reading anymore :p but I have to. And it sucks a little. Hmph. Thank you for sharing sweetie. <3

I will reread some of my favorite books someday! I will! Sorry, it just makes me sad sometimes that I don’t have much time to reread books. And I just keep buying more! Books are really expensive, and that’s why I’m forced to read more ebooks than I would like to:( I still enjoy them though, it’s just not the same.

Great list! I can also be an indecisive mood reader. It is quite inconvenient.lol
I try to support used bookstores and my library when I buy books but every now and then I end up having to support Amazon just cause they are cheaper and I really want a book!

Totally agree on the Amazon thing, though I prefer BD these days. Either way, it’s just the easiest and cheapest option and as much as I’d love to support my book stores, I also spend way too much money on books already and so NEED to save cash when I can.

I also find the selection in book stores limited, and am often searching endlessly to find SOMETHING I want. Online, it’s just quicker and easier. Plus the books get delivered to me, so I can be super lazy and not even leave the house haha

#8!!!! I’m totally the same! I’m obsessed with completing things so if I have any book in a series then I need the whole set. Not good for my wallet haha~

I’m also an indecisive mood reader, too, and wow that can be soooo frustrating. I’ll often spend longer choosing what book to read next than I do on actually reading the darn book. And that’s saying something because I am a really slow reader!

You always have time to reread books, but it means newer releases have to be pushed forward :) And it’s worth it sometimes! I’m on a sort-of book buying ban and so far, so good, but buying books makes me so happy.

I really agree with number seven, I’m not a student though I work four days a week, but I don’t really earn that much and I also need to pay some bills each month – and that doesn’t allow me to buy books from one of my favourite bookstores every time, as much as I would love to.. So I end up buying from Book Depository nine out of ten times, unless they don’t have a book that I want (which almost never happens)..

I haven’t given much thought to the back-to-back reading of one author, but I generally like to mix another author in after two books by the same author. Glad I’m not the only one!

I have a huge problem with not owning all the books in a series. I feel like I can’t start a series because I don’t own all the books yet, and I want them to be available for me. But at the same time, I don’t want to buy an entire series because what if I don’t like the first one and then I wasted my money on the whole series?

ooohhhh! those are real bookworm probs Kelly…fortunately for me i have developed to be more disciplined with my book purchases. I already made it a habit that the books that i end up loving after reading it in ebook format i make it a point to buy it in physical format later on.

Okay what i don’t like in romance in books…is if there is too much unnecessary drama going on and therefore dragging the story line longer than it should….love triangle wherein it takes toolong for the MC to freaking decide who she/he wants for real…insta love! ….too cheesy dialogues even a die hard romantic like me draws the line in eye rolling cheesy dialogues >_< it distracts me sometimes. That's all i could think of for now.

Great list! I can agree with all of these, especially the buy book ban. I have so many print books and so many ebooks that I shouldn’t need to buy any new ones for a while. I shouldn’t *need* to, but I still do. Ha. I also wish I had more time to reread books. There are so many great ones that I would love to read again. But alas, my very long TBR list prevents that from happening.

I can relate to so many of these! I really need a book buying ban, because I have a feeling the books just aren’t going to fit in my room anymore. And I’ll probably be moving soon. I also mostly shop at Amazon because it is just so much cheaper.
I usually avoid reading previews because it’s like starting a book and not finishing it: it kind of frustrates me, but sometimes I can’t resist them…
    Anyway, really great list!

I don’t have time to re-read either. Just last night I had a friend over who (unknown to me!) was into the fourth book in the Outlander series. She saw my books on the bookcase and started asking me all these questions because she thought she skipped over a book, and all the nostalgia of this great story came back. I could re-read Outlander for the rest of my life and never grow tired of it…I just don’t have the time!

I hear you on the book buying thing. I wanted to narrow it down gradually so I said one book a month to be bought… but those review copies coming in don’t help. Oh, and I also get the whole thing if I want one book in the series xD Which out to stop. Reading books in one sitting is great, and it is a shame that we don’t seem to have time for that because of life…

Same with the 3, when i really want a book i need to buy it, or when i want read a classic i read better in paper or I concentrate better
And seven too, sadly amazon is more cheaper and i have an aunt who she gave me gif card amazon, because in her work they paid her with them (or something like that) so, i buy in amazon
8, i have many series incomplete, and i want all the book, i dont care if i love, like or they are ok books, i want all
9 :( is a sad thing but reality, i only reread for a book challenge or if the movie will be a movie…and sometimes
