What I Liked
Right from the start, Trouble Is A Friend of Mine is dramatic and utterly engaging. We are pulled right into Zoe’s life and her many adventures with Digby. Sure, there were a lot of unbelievable things that happened – things that only happens in dramas or movies – but while I was reading Trouble Is A Friend of Mine, I could care less about those things. All I was thinking about was how fun and dramatic everything was without nitpicking anything, probably because Trouble Is A Friend of Mine is such a fast-paced without being annoying and confusing. Reading Trouble Is A Friend of Mine was utterly entertaining and I was completely hooked from start to finish.
A huge, if not nearly all, of Trouble Is A Friend of Mine is focused on Digby even though the book is told from Zoe’s point of view. Although Digby does have his downfalls (see the paragraph below for more information), I couldn’t help but fall for some of his quirks. Digby is crazy smart – I’m honestly not sure if “smart” is the right word to describe this trait, but it’s the best word I can think of to describe him at the moment – and uses his brain to his advantage. The way Digby outsmarts authority and always gets his way had me looking up to him in awe and mentally noting down his tricks. He doesn’t try to hide or brush over the fact that he knows better/more than other people and I like how confident he is about his ability.
What I Didn’t Like
Besides the fact that Digby is an evil genius, we can’t forget that Digby is also a rude, inconsiderate jerk. When we first met him, Digby pretty much admits to stalking Zoe, knowing who was home with her and creepily looking through her windows, asking her for the photos she takes of herself every morning. If you don’t run away from a guy like that, I recommend you somehow protect yourself – asap. Digby does worse things than above – if you can believe it – throughout the book and everyone just accepts it and forgives him because, well, he’s Digby. The worse thing is, he sadly never changes at the end.

If you’re looking for a fun, quick, engaging book that will keep you hooked, Trouble Is A Friend of Mine is the book for you.

I was so excited to read this, but I was completely unable to connect with it for some reason. I’m still not sure why. I did like the fun bickering, but it just lacked something. I’m glad you enjoyed it overall. I like seeing others’ opinions for books that didn’t work for me. :)
