What Is A Kelly: Hello, Busy Season + Constant Studying

When I blog, I love writing personal posts and enjoy reading them. I wanted to do a feature that’ll allow me to share personal parts of my life and Jessi from Novel Heartbeat‘s feature, Life Of A Blogger, did that, until it sadly ended. That’s when I decided to create my own feature sharing snippets of my life, calling it “What Is A Kelly” because as most of you know, that’s my twitter handle. In What Is A Kelly, I want to share parts of my life with you guys!

I’ve been meaning to write up this post for months, but the suspicious side of me didn’t want to jinx anything, so I kept quiet…and then when I was ready to tell you guys, studying got in the way. Well, right now I finally have some free time to myself to write this post and can’t wait to update everyone on what I’ve been doing. I’ve been incredibly busy these past three to four months, but in the end, the results were worth it. *winks*

For those of you who don’t know, I’m currently a graduate student working on my Master’s degree in Accounting. September to early November is on-campus recruiting season for me, which means recruiters from different companies come to my school campus to recruit people into their firm a year in advance (a year in advance for accounting students at least; I’m not sure how it works with students studying other majors).

During the past year, I’ve been working hard at improving my resume (and cover letter). I’ve been joining clubs, finding a new internship on top of the one I’ve been working at for two years, and finding ways to improve myself and help myself grow to become a better, rounded person. I’ve been attending networking events and mock interviews to practice for interviews, as well as hosting events to help the student body. It’s amazing to know and see that all my hard work and determination has finally paid off – two months ago, I received a full-time offer from an accounting firm that I would love to work for and be a part of!

Que the happy dance!

Since my full-time job won’t start until late fall of this year, that means I have until Fall to finish my Master’s degree – which I’m on top of – and being super ambitious, I also want to pass all four parts of the CPA – the Certified Public Accountant exam – before I start working full-time because believe me, can you imagine working full-time and studying? I’m planning on tackling the hardest part of the exam first, and let me tell you, it ain’t going to be easy. The past rate for that part is 43%. Yes, you read that correctly, 43%. I want to be in that 43%, hence I’ve spent the past long long month studying…and I’m still not done. There’s a lot of materials to study for you guys.

What I’m trying to say is, I’ll be posting a bit spontaneously on the blog. I’ve written several reviews and they’re all ready to go and scheduled. Once I’m done with all four parts of the CPA exam, you’ll be seeing me posting often again, but as of now, I’ll be posting once in awhile (and crying in the background because hello, even more material to study for).

What have you all been up to? Do you have any exciting news of your own to share? I want to know!
