Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013

toptentuesday

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013.

Ever since I started my blog about three months ago, I never expected to love blogging so much. This week’s topic is perfect for me and my bookish goals.

1. Take notes while I’m reading in a marble notebook.
When I read, I never take notes when I really, really, should. I’ll love to use post-its, especially since my friend brought an unique pack for Christmas, but I hate how the papers feel when you take the post-its off (once I ripped a page trying to peel a post-it off). So instead of using post-its to write down notes, I’m going to keep a marble notebook to record all my thoughts while I’m reading.

2. Try to make a post every day.
Last semester, I came home at 8 P.M. every Tuesday and Thursday because I had a night class, causing me to miss writing up Top Ten Tuesday posts and posting a new review every day. However, this semester, my schedule is a lot better, so hopefully I can post a new review every day.

3. Stop changing up my blog template & header.
I am a design freak. In high school, I was in the Computer Science major where I learned tons of HTML, CSS, and Javascript and I spent a majority of my time given designing webpages (it took me six hours to be satisfied with a design I made). ohdamnbooks is not even four months old yet and I’ve already changed the templates and headers more than four times.

4.Try to post at least four reviews per week.
It’s so weird. When I’m on a break, I read less books than while I’m in school. I read 285 books last year, and I only started picking up my reading habit in the middle of March, so I’m sure I can accomplish this.

5.Stop buying so many books!
Ever since I’ve discovered Strand, I’ve been going crazy, buying every young adult book that attracts me for 50% off. Sure, I save a lot, but it’s a money drainer too.

6. Read all the books I bought & borrowed before borrowing and buying more books.
I currently have 39 books checked out (dropped from 97 books) and at least 10 books I’ve brought and never read yet. Yet I keep buying more books & borrowing ones I’v never read.

7. Hold more giveaways. (How many of you squealed when you read that?)
I have tons of books on my shelves and more books stacked everywhere on my desk because I just don’t have shelf space. Therefore, I should do more giveaways and give away books I don’t need anymore.

8. Find a good place to put all the books I win & bought.
I have only one bookshelf, and right now, that bookshelf is filled. That means books are all over my desk right now and I need a good place to put that all. Somehow, I have to convince my parents to buy me a new bookshelf. (I can’t wait until I have my own place to live.)

9. Try to make my book reviews have more depth & be longer.
I know my reviews are really long already, but I want it to be a mini-essay size. I’ve already started writing longer reviews, but I want them to be pages of my thoughts. I’m kidding. Sort of.

10. Last, but not least, meet more bookish people!
I was so freaking amazed when I joined the book blogging community; who knew there will be tons of book lovers like me? I went through high school (and now college) being the only one I ever knew who honestly love reading. Now, to discover I’m not the only one who rather read than watch television puts a huge smile on my face. (:

And if you read through all that, great! Now I want to know, what are your bookish goals for 2013?

& if you have time, don’t forget to check out my Most Anticipated 2013 Book Giveaway (INT) & win a book released in 2013 that’s under $21!

I have 147 books that I’ve bought but haven’t read yet (and that’s just YA) so one of my goals is to get that pile down. I have a slight book buying problem as well :’)

    Great list! :)

I have the same problem when it comes to buying books. I just can’t stop! I’ve put a limit on myself this year, but we’ll see how long that will last.

I hugly agree with number ten. In my family I am the only reading geek and I knew before starting my blog last year that there was a book community. But I never thought it would be this big.

Hello, newcomer on your blog and I already love the design! But I totally understand the need to change the design every who knows how often. In my old blog, I changed it every month. Or maybe more than that.

And I think by coming here I contributed to your tenth goal! *ahem* Hi, I love books. You can call me Gellie! Nice to meet you!

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier :D Followed!

Funny enough, but four reviews per week is also my minimum requirement, because I want my reviews to at least equal my weekly other posts. :-p

Number 5 and 6 seem to be a huge issue among us book bloggers, I hope you can really commit to it, it won’t be easy :(

and lol on number 3, I have also changed my design so much xD I’m hoping to stick to the one I have for a little while though. Lots of luck on all of your goals and thank you for stopping by my blog :D! New follower :)
