Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top Ten Words/Topics That Instantly Make Me Buy/Pick Up A Book.
This list took me a long time to write because I’m not really picky about what I read.
So here’s my list in no particular order:
1. Serial Killers
I love reading books about serial killers (I Hunt Killers and Game for example). That’s probably why I am so obsessed with the television show Criminal Minds.
2. Madman
I want to learn how a madman’s mind works. What goes inside their heads? Why do they do the things they do? How do we recognize them? Do we even want to recognize them?
3. Masquerade
Masquerade balls. Masks and gowns and horse carriages. Enough said.
4. Some sort of natural disaster
I love reading about realistic natural disasters and seeing how and if people would survive them.
5. Investigation of a murder
I love these kinds of books. I love solving the cases along with the main character and piecing together all the clues. I love the suspense and the moment where everything is revealed.
6. Paris
I want to go to Paris. What’s the best way to prepare for it? Simple, you read about it.
7. Abusive Family
I want to read about what children in an abusive family face. I want to learn how they live their lives and if they ever have the courage to break the cycle. I want the book to tear at my heart and break it into pieces. I want it to make me question humanity.
8. Assassins or Spies
Who doesn’t like to read about assassins and spies? Who doesn’t want to hear about their mission and read all those awesome fight scenes?
9. Dragons
There are very few Young Adult books specifically about dragons. Seriously, there are so many different types of dragons that I don’t even know why dragon books are not as popular as vampire books.
10. Told from guy’s POV
There are so many Young Adult books out there that are written from a girl’s POV. I usually love reading a guy’s POV better because then, I know how guys think. :D
And now, I want to know, what are your top ten words/topics that instantly make you buy/pick up a book?
Yay for dragons! :D Although some of these sounds scary. Madman, serial killers? Yikes! :D
Nice, and interesting list!
My TTT
Yeah, I LOVE to read horror books. The more blood, the better. Yes, I’m weird. ):

Too bad most male POV books also have female POV in them. D:

Dragons! Agreed :)
My friend is obsessed with dragon books, but there are sadly so few out there purely about dragons. ):

Who doesn’t love dragons?!

I know! Fire + wings + scales + big = awesome. :D

I really love dragons! You should try Christopher Paolini’s books. They’re great!
I’ve heard mixed things about that series, but yes, I definitely should when I have time! :D
Kelly recently posted…Monthly Wrap Up: April 2013
I love crime mysteries. For the same reason as you, its fun to try and solve it along with the main character. But its been a while since I read a god Crime book. Its kind of sad.
I didn’t think to put spies with assassins. Why’d I forget spies, their almost as good as assassins! What the heck me.
And I agree, there needs to be more dragon books out there.

Serial killers was high on my Top Ten list too, especially since I discovered Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta series!
I’ve never heard of that series before, got to check it out! (:
Thanks for the recommendation!

Reading about masquerades are so awesome, the masks and the mystery is just so swoon-worthy! :D<3
And yay, thank you! (:

I love reading a guy’s POV. It’s absolutely refreshing to read from their perspective since we rarely get it. It gives an interesting spin on the book.
Spies, ftw!

Yeah, we get to see what’s going on in guy’s minds. ;D

Awesome list! I totally should have put serial killers and masquerades on mine! At least I remembered to include assassins ;) I love guy’s POV too, if it’s well done! Especially if the dude is snarky.

Assassins! Yeeey. After falling in love with two books with assassins in it, I think I’ve found something I enjoy. And I really like male POV’s now and then.

Really?
I’ve seen Paris in nobody’s list so far. :P

Dragons!! Yes! It is a largely untapped world in young adult. But have you read The Sweetest Dark by Shana Abe?? Young adult book about a girl who turns into a dragon! It was really well written too. :-) And it’s a trilogy! (I love trilogies)
I have yet to read a predominantly Male POV book yet (I know, I know). But I have an issue with a female writer writing male POV’s. I mean, how do they know what a guy is thinking any more than I do? I want a YA male POV, written by a male author. Then I would sign on.

WAIT. WAIT WAIT WAIT. IT’S ABOUT DRAGONS?
Okay Meagan, that book is definitely near the top of my TBR pile now. Thanks for letting me know! :D
That’s true. But the first book I’ve heard about, a guy author writing a book from a guy’s POV was a DISASTER. (September Girls). I read a few quotes and I just wanted to barf. D:

I couldn’t help but over-read. LOL. I loved The Sweetest Dark! And The Deepest Night too! GREAT books!

Masquerades! YES!!! Swoon! My favorite has to be from Incarnate by Jodi Meadows. I also love books about dragons and guy POV’s (Katie McGarry and C.J. Redwine both know how to rock those!)
Thanks for stopping by my TTT Kelly!

I sadly DNF’d Incarnate, so I didn’t get to the masquerade part. If I knew that there was a masquerade part, I would have keep pushing on and continued to read it. ):
And yes, Katie McGarry is a genius on writing books from the guy’s POV. Noah sounds so real and guy-like! :D
Kelly recently posted…Monthly Wrap Up: April 2013
Storm is told from alternate POV’s. Chris and Becca.
That’s awesome Mariam! :D
It’s definitely on next month’s TBR pile, as you’ll see tomorrow. ;D

Masquerade balls…*swoon*, and yes, there should be way more books with dragons in!
Julianne recently posted…Book Review: I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You, by Ally Carter
I’ll love to read about the costumes, masks, and the mystery going on in masquerade balls!
And yes, there should be A LOT more dragon books. I only know like less than 10 (not counting the books in the same series twice). ):
