Top Ten Favorite Beginnings/Endings In Books

toptentuesday

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Favorite Beginnings/Endings In Books.

So here’s my list in no particular order:

Favorite Beginnings:

thissongwillsaveyourlife dareyouto deathangel

1. This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales
This book has the best opening line ever. “You think it’s so easy to change yourself.” That line alone immediately pulled me into the book.

2. Dare You To by Katie McGarry
The first chapter of Dare You To immediately grabbed and kept my attention. It was flirty, wild, and fun. I would buy the book for the first chapter alone.

3. Death Angel by Linda Howard
If you read my review of Death Angel, you’ll see my reaction to the beginning. So good.

Favorite Endings:

summer iden stolen

1. Summer in the City by Elizabeth Chandler
Oh my goodness, the ending. I can not get over this book’s ending. It is epic, sweet, and totally, 100%, unexpected.

2. Identical by Ellen Hopkins
The ending was so unpredictable and unexpected that I nearly threw the book across the room. (I have not yet really thrown a book across the room yet.) It scarred me and completely threw me off because it was just so unexpected.

3. Stolen by Lucy Christopher
I honestly never expected much from Stolen, but boy, did Stolen leave me bitter and completely devastated. Why did I like the ending of Stolen even though the ending of the book was so terrible? Simple. The ending of Stolen made me feel. It was the first – and hopefully the last – time I experienced Stockholm Syndrome.

catchingjordan temptmeattwilight ten

4. Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally
The ending of Catching Jordan was perfect. It perfectly reflected Jordan and Henry’s friendship and how much they love each other.

5. Tempt Me At Twilight by Lisa Kleypas
The change Harry went through was brilliant on Lisa Kleypas’ part. <3 6. Ten by Gretchen McNeil
One sentence: I never saw that coming.

pivot7. Pivot Point by Kasie West
That ending! It basically scarred me for life and I’m so happy that it was able to do that. I’ll do anything to get the sequel in my hands asap.

OMG!! I’m terrified to read Stolen. I don’t want to be emotionally devastated, but I don’t want to not read it.
I completely agree with Dare You To. That one made my list to, for the same reasons. I loved that book!!

How could I forget Pivot Point!! I was heartbroken at that ending, even though it was absolutely perfect. I can hardly wait to see what happens with book two.

Dare You To is the only other one of these I’ve read, but I agree it is a great opening chapter – actually just a great book. Another one that left me itching for the sequel.

    Great list. :)

Interesting list! I agree, that first line from This Song Will Save Your Life is perfection. I think we can all relate! Shockingly (or not) the only one of these I’ve read is Identical… and I’m trying to remember the ending. I THINK I know. Like, the twist. But I can’t remember the details of it. I think I was taken back by it too, and it really made me want to reread the story to see if it made sense… If I’m thinking of this right >.> And ooh I do want to read Pivot Point! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY BOOKS?! Ahhhh!

Pivot Point’s ending was amazeballs! I freakin’ loved it. Also, I’ll be reading This Song Will Save Your Life and the beginning has pulled me in. I’ve only read one Linda Howard book, Kiss Me While I Sleep, and it was so damn good! Need to read more by her. Also, Ten is really grabbing my attention lately because of the island plot. And yes, I’d also would’ve totally bought Dare You To after reading that first chapter alone, so engaging!
