Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Bookish Things I Am Thankful For.
So here’s my (short) list in no particular order:
1. Goodreads
Oh my goodness, I absolutely love Goodreads. Without it, I would not survive as a reader and a book blogger. Goodreads keeps track of all the books I read, the ratings I give them, the books I need to read, the books I need to check out, how long it took me to read a book, the number of books I’ve read so far this year, the ratings of books people read; I can go on and on about this all day.
2. Strandbooks
Ever since I started book blogging, I have tons of books with awesome premises on my to-buy list. Thank goodness I discovered Strandbooks; most books sold in Strand has a 50% discount. Yes, that’s right, that means that hardcovers are $9 and paperbacks are sold for $5. Strandbooks basically saved my wallet.
3. Libraries
You know the books with all the hype surrounding it? Yeah, well I usually end up disliking them. Yeah, I know. Thank goodness I borrow all those books from the library instead of buying them, if you know what I mean.
4. B&N Coupons
Books are expensive. Without those 15% coupons Barnes & Noble sends me, I can barely buy any paperbacks (no hardcovers because Amazon has a better deal than Barnes & Noble for hardcovers) because I’m a cheap person. :P
5. Bookshelves
Without the two bookshelves I have, my books would have no place to go. However, some of my books already have no place to go because I need a new bookshelf. Eep!
6. Bookish People!
Without you guys to chat about books with, which ones you highly recommend, which ones I need to grab asap, and which ones to avoid like it’s the flu, blogging would absolutely be no fun. So thank you guys for making blogging and reading books worthwhile!
Okay, I know this isn’t a list of ten bookish things that I am thankful for, but man, these are all I can think of. What are your top ten bookish things you are thankful for?
Great post. I’d have to add my Kindle app to the list. I can’t remember life before it. :)
Yes to Goodreads! Despite the whole drama, I can’t stay away from it. It’s a life saver and I wouldn’t know what to do without it. I wish I had a store like Strandbooks here, although I’m not sure it would be good for my wallet :p And I’m also thankful for all the bookish people!

Oh wow, thanks for the suggestion on Strandbooks. As if I needed another place to spend all my money. :)
Hope you have a great holiday weekend!

Some bookish items I am thankful for are all the wonderful books I read this year (about 75% of the books I read were exceptionally great). I am also thankful the upcoming releases including Laini Taylor’s Dreams of Gods & Monsters. And, too, I didn’t have this on my list on my post, but someone said bookmarks and I have to say I am also thankful for bookmarks.
I love your list. I’m sad I didn’t include bookshelves now on mine. :( Without them my apartment would be even more messy than it already is. Oh and I religiously use my library, free books, yes please! Not to mention that like you there have been several times that I didn’t like a book that had all the hype.

I’ve never heard of Strandbooks, but I’m thinking I need to check it out! Have you also been on BookOutlet? Super savings there! I got a hardcover version of Scarlet for 3.99 :)
And I’m cheap too – Amazon nearly halves the hardcover price! Plus, if you’re buying a lot of books at one time, you get the free shipping after $35. It takes a bit longer, but saves so much money!

Haha! Goodreads and B&N cupons aren’t on my list, but I definitely agree! Love them!!! & As much as I love physical books, ebooks can be so much cheaper some times. Definitely saves my wallet.

Love the list! I’m so thankful to have found a community of folks who love books as much as I do :-)

Fun! Love your list, Kelly. Especially the B&N mention. Their program is pretty awesome though it seems like every time I get to the store, the coupons have just expired. Those coupons are conspiring against me. Seriously. ;)

I’ve never heard of Strandbooks. Is it just online? Because I would love to use it but someone else will have to buy my books lol :p And I’m thankful for shelves too! Without them I wouldn’t know where to put my already growing collection of books. Thanks for sharing! :D
