Judge A Book By Its Signature: Boundless – Cynthia Hand

judgeabook

I don’t know about you, but my signature is downright ugly. And lame. Let’s not forget lame. Every time I sign my name on something, whether it be a receipt or a new credit card, I wince inside. I don’t know how people come up with such awesome pretty signatures. I’m totally out of the loop with that.

One day, after getting multiple books signed, I thought what if instead of judging a book by its cover, you judge the book by the author’s signature? Will the author’s signature attract you to the book? Will you still buy the book then?

This week, I’m featuring Boundless by Cynthia Hand.

cover

Boundless is one of those covers where the main focus is the color of the cover and not the cover model, which I like. The shade of pink used is pretty. However, I like the cover of Boundless, but I don’t love it.

I will buy the whole series as a set because the covers matches and looks really pretty then, but I won’t buy them alone individually.

signature

I like Cynthia Hand’s signature; every time I see it, I just want to fangirl all over it! I love the way she writes her “C”‘s and “H”‘s and she even manages to make her “a”‘s unique.

It really depends on whether there’s extra money in my wallet that day.

Will you buy Boundless based on the author’s signature alone?

The Fact that I want both this cover and just cannot stop myself from buying books that are signed I would totally get it.

The cover of Boundless is indeed pretty and I have a weakness for signed books too!

I also love that the covers match on all of the books in the series! I’m not sure if I’ll buy it based on her signature though. Her signature didn’t really capture my eyes lol.

I have a weakness for books in a series that has matching covers. It’s just so <3.
Ha ha, I love Cynthia Hand's signature for some reason. It's just so perfect to me! -sigh-

Her signature looks kind of…ordinary to me. I don’t know. At least I can actually read it. There are some author’s sigs that I can’t even read. One being Sarah Dessen. Ugh. Anyway, I’ve been wanting to read this series for a while, but never got into it. Have I told you that I love this feature? Well I do! :D

I can see why Cynthia Hand’s signature looks ordinary to you. :P
Yeah, Sarah Dessen’s signature is hard to read. All I see is a bunch of “S”‘s and a bunch of “a”‘s.
The only one in the Unearthly series that I’ve read is Unearthly, even though I have all the books in the series. Bad Kelly, I know.
Yay, I’m glad you do! -throws confetti all around the place-

I like her signature but personally find it a liiiittle on the sloppy side. It’s too sharp for me; I like big, loopy signatures that lean more towards being girly. What I love most about the covers of the Unearthly books is the font used for the title. I love the feather and the swirls that stand out against the block letters. I’m not much for “color” covers, but these ones are nice and catch my eye.

Now that you’ve mentioned it, Cynthia Hand’s signature does look sloppy. o:
I love the font used for the title too! I would have never thought that font will match the cover, but it does and looks so good on the cover. I love the swirls too and the feather, which totally matches an angel book. ;D

Oh GAWD. This cover is BEAUTIFUL. And though I’ve seen better signatures, I LOVE Hand’s writing style.
