Life Of A Blogger: Non-Bookish Hobbies

lifeofablogger

Life Of A Blogger is hosted by the fabulous Jessi from Novel Heartbeat where we let people know more about our lives outside of blogging so they can get to know us better!

Today’s Life Of A Blogger topic is non-bookish hobbies we have and I’m sad to say that I don’t have much non-bookish hobbies. I’m pretty much a boring person. Okay, maybe that’s not quite true, but that’s how I feel compared to all you interesting people.

So here is the list of my non-bookish hobbies:

pokemon

Ever since Pokemon X and Y was released in October, I have been slowly playing it. (Slowly because I have school and all the other things to do besides playing Pokemon all day.) Even though I’ve basically finished playing the game, I’m still playing it because my ultimate goal is to, of course, catch them all. ;D

Plus, just look at the adorableness of them all!

charmander leafeon
How can you not love all the adorableness?

maplestory

Maplestory is a guilty pleasure of mine. I used to be obsessed with it (and I mean obsessed with it – my grades suffered, my social life suffered, my wallet suffered, and my reading time suffered) until I finally got a hold of myself and forced myself to quit. I just recently rejoined Maplestory again about a week ago and this time, I will have a strong control over when I will play and how much money I’ll spend on it. No more gaming until 2AM and then sleeping in school. Maplestory has ruined my life enough already.

For those of you who also play Maplestory and want to add me to your buddy list, I play in Broa and my ign is Timegiass. (For those of you who may want to know why my pet’s name is “Kim Bum <3", go google images him. You can thank me later. ;D) timegiass

sketching

Remember when I said I used to draw in my other Life Of A Blogger: Career post? Well, like I’ve mentioned, since I never drew anything for so long, I resort to sketching. I sketch random things, namely whatever the kids I help in my job ask me to draw for them.

squirtlesketch

Look at my weird sketch of Squirtle!

childhoodshows

Remember Sailor Moon? Pokemon? Digimon? Digimon Frontier? (Yes, there is a difference.) Power Rangers? You know, all those childhood shows you used to watch? Yeah, one of my favorite hobbies is to watch them again and again (like while I’m doing homework). I’m currently rewatching Digimon Frontier for the sixth time.

digimon

Admit it, these guys are hot.

So what are your non-bookish hobbies? Are you a kind-of boring person like I am? I want to know!

I am not into games.. But I have watched both Pokemon and Digimon a few years back, and I really liked them. I think I still know the opening theme of Pokemon. Other animes I have been watching before are BeyBlade, Crush Gear and Yu Gi Yeah, I know… Most of those are for boys. Hahaha.. I also happen to know Kim Bum because I have seen him in some Korean dramas, and some of my friends have a serious crush on him. :)

I want to be the very best, like no one ever was!
To catch them will be my test, to train them in my heart (?)
To travel across the land, searching far and wide…
Okay, I should stop ha ha. As you can see, I have one Pokemon theme song kind of memorized. ;D
Oh my god, BeyBlade! I was OBSESSED with it when I was a kid; I even begged my parents to buy me multiple BeyBlades, but my parents threw them out long ago. ):
And pshh, who cares if they are “only” for boys, girls got to have fun too! :D
Kim Bum is just too darn cute! -swoons-

awww.. our beyblades have long been gone too. Poor beybaldes..
Lol!! it’s actually “to catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause” I think..
I will travel across the land, seacrhing far and wide…
These pokemons, to understand, the power that’s inside..
yeahhh.. gotta stop sinnging now. Lol!

True!! He’s one of the reasons why I watched Boys Over Flowers :)

I love love LOOOOOOOOOOOVE Pokemon so much, my boyfriend bought me the X version for Xmas, and I bought him the Y version, and I always struggle to choose between playing it and reading amazing books ever since! (I try not to let Pokemon take over the reading, but sometimes it’s hard, especially because these new versions are really cool and there are SO MANY Pokemons to catch :D)
I also love the anime, I’m watching the last season of Pokemon which is pretty cool too.

Oh and I love your Squirtle sketch, if you have more Pokemon drawings like that, why not make a post about it, for Pokegeeks around the world? :D

OMG PRISCILLA, YOU’RE LIKE MY POKEMON SOULMATE! -high fives-
I have the exact same problem as you – ever since I bought Pokemon Y (my sister got X), I’ve been struggling between playing it and reading. (Yes, SO MANY Pokemons to catch. And how about getting them shinys? ;D)
I’m watching Pokemon X and Y too. Why wasn’t there an episode for so long?!
Ha ha, I did do a Skiploom and Jumpluff sketch, but they went POOF! (Probably one of the kids in my job took it because I drew it while I was working. :P)

Pokemon soulmates, love the concept! :D I want to catch them all AND make all of my Pokemon evolve!
I haven’t seen any shiny one yet :( *sigh*
BUT I managed to not play Pokemon for a week now (especially because I can play only late in the evening, and it is not very good to play Pokemon just before going to bed!), and I got back to reading after Xmas holidays spent way too much on Pokemon! :P

Such a shame that you have sketches thieves at work (maybe it could be a companion novel of The book thief : The Pokemon sketch thief!), I’d really like to see more sketches of you!!!

I’m super jelly about Pokemon X & Y. My husband, myself, and our kiddos all love Pokemon. However, all 4 of us just have the DS Lite’s and don’t feel like wasting money to get the 3DS so we have had to suffer through learning about X & Y and the release and not having it :'( I hope they eventually release it for the regular DS.

I had to get control of Words With Friends (Strangers) because it was cutting into my reading time. I am a HUGE Potterhead and I spend a chunk of time on a HP social site every day. I also help make costumes for a children’s theater group and am a wardrobe misstress during productions (volunteer). I bake a lot. My son is teaching me Japanese, would that be considered a hobby?

Yay, I love the topic this week! I used to play SO MUCH POKEMON about 10 years ago, but apparently I was like the only person who played the card game and everyone else I know plays the video games (which I didn’t even know existed until a couple years ago!). I’m such a sucker for the adorable art in games like Maple Story, it’s a wonder I haven’t played that game yet (I’ve certainly seen it around). It’s so much fun to find other gamers out here in the book blogosphere!

Your sketch of Squirtle is super cute. I wish I had more time for drawing and many of the artsy things I used to do. I love watching anime shows, too. Have you seen the abbreviated version of Yhu-Gi-Oh made by a fan? They are freaking HILARIOUS, and I haven’t even seen the actual show, lol!

Digimon Tamers is the most boring season in my opinion. Digimon Frontier is THE BEST; what can beat humans turning into Digimon? And that amazing theme song?

You think Tamers is boring?! o.O I thought it was the most awesome season of the ones I’ve seen. I was a huge fan of Rika (that was her name in the German version at least – she’s called Ruki in the original, I think, no idea what she’s called in the US version. You know, the rude girl with the fox digimon). Humans turn into digimon in Frontiers? I had no idea o.O I need to re-watch everything at some point…

I think people who consider themselves boring are actually more interesting. Although I can’t say the same for myself. I am definitely boring. But everything you do is pretty much what I would love to do again (well some of those things). I definitely grew up watching pokemon and sailor moon. I used to sketch and still watch shows for kids. Like Disney channel and cartoon network. Sometimes Nick. I actually want to start playing video games again like I used to but I’m not sure if I’ll have time being a part time blogger, reader, and trying desperately to find time to start writing. I also want to get my license for driving soon. And apart from that school starts up again and I’m pretty sure it will be chaos for a while. So yeah, I’m boring too :)

It wasn’t until I made this post that I realized how boring I was xD
I totally love Pokémon, too! That’s my entire childhood right there :D<3
I haven't played any of the newer games though. The newest that I've played is Platinum. And I have Soul Silver, too. Although I haven't actually played it because I've been so busy :/
It's so funny that you posted a picture of Charmander and Leafeon. I bought my boyfriend a stuffed Charmander for Christmas. It was so dang cute I almost kept it for myself! There was a Leafeon at the store, too. But I was running low and money so I decided maybe next time. I absolutely LOVE eeveelutions. I once went against the Elite Four with half my team being eeveelutions and like 10 levels lower… Greatest feeling ever when I beat them all :D

Man, I used to be obsessed with Pokemon – I collected the cards and had all but 3 of the first 150…then they came out with ANOTHER 150! After all that work! I was so mad that I quit collecting and quit playing. I used to watch the show a lot, but I lost interest after all the new ones were added. I just felt like they were trying too hard after that =/

SAILOR MOON! Yes! That show will never get old. I started re-watching the series months ago (I never got to see the newer episodes!), but of course I failed since I fail at watching TV series. *sigh*
I used to LOVE Digimon! I actually really miss it, think I may watch an episode or two here soon :)

I used to love when one of my cousins came to visit because he brought his old school Gameboy and a Pokemon game on that. It was the best thing ever. I also used to spend a RIDICULOUS amount of time on Farmville and always felt like a horrible person if I didn’t harvest my animals because they would be in so much pain from too much milk or being too overgrown and woolly if I didn’t shear them. These were ACTUAL guilty feelings I had. Scary. But that’s how they get you.

I like rewatching childhood shows too, but mine are Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Arthur and SuperTed. I recently remembered Rupert Bear. Used to love that show (I had a Brit fetish even as a child I have discovered) but I HATE the new CGI Rupert Bear. Blegh. Same as Babar. Old school Babar forever.
