You guys probably have noticed that I haven’t been posting much this summer. Well, I have my reasons.
I was originally planning this summer to be a summer of rest, reading, and gaming. I’ve been working with kids for the past year and two summers and quite frankly, I desperately needed the rest. However, my parents made me apply for this summer job lottery, a lottery I thought I would never be chosen for since what are the chances I’ll be chosen for the 3rd summer in a row, especially since they cut back a huge amount of the number of jobs available?
As luck would have it, I was chosen to work; I had to work every single weekday. There went my summer of sleeping, reading, and gaming. Even though I get out semi-early from work everyday, I was too tired to do any reading or reviewing after getting home. All I wanted to do was sleep or play games to relieve all the stress.
Sometimes, I was so tired from work that I just had to sleep all day after I’m done with work for the day. About three weeks ago, I had this massive, massive headache. It hurt to blink, it hurt to move my jaw to eat, it hurt to think, it hurt to talk, it simply hurt. Even after twelve hours of rest, everything still hurt. I never ever want that headache again.
My relatives and their friends also came over from Asia and stayed over. Some of them were so inconsiderate and woke everybody up at 5AM in the morning just because they needed to be awake that time to go somewhere. Of course, I got my revenge by waking them up early when they were sleeping in. But yes, I was busy with showing them around NYC and helping them with other personal things that they needed to do. If I had some free time to myself to read or review, it was most likely spent helping them.
I also had the worse mosquito bites in the history of my life. From what I can tell, a mosquito bit me two times in the bathroom, each bite less than a centimeter apart from one another. Since I am also allergic to mosquito bites, the two mosquito bites somehow combined to one (if that even makes sense, but I saw it happen) and developed to be bigger than the size of a handball. The scary part is, the mosquito bites were as round as a handball too. The bites got so bad (the bite was darker than a bruise – it turned purple with a mix of brown in it) that I had to see the doctor for it and after a disgusted look, she gave me some kind of shot. I had to cover the mosquito bites for more than a week because believe me, it will scare the kids at my job and probably give them nightmares. The mosquito bite is A LOT better now, but it’s still there and slowly disappearing.
To make matters even worse, my Paypal account was hacked during the summer. Thank goodness Paypal noticed the first charge the hacker made as suspicious activity and blocked my account from making any more charges after the first one. I filed a case and won, but believe me, I was panicking like crazy when it happened because who knew this could ever happen? The Internet is a SCARY place.
So yeah, that was my crazy summer. Hopefully life will get back to normal now since work is over and I have more time to do the things I want. I will definitely be posting regularly like before on September.
So how was your summer guys? Hopefully it was better than mines!
Though it’s not the summer here anymore, it felt like I didn’t want to do anything even with school. I also felt incredibly depressed about living so I wasn’t reading much. It took 2 weeks for me to feel okay again…It was all bed, school, bed, school…
Good thing you are still productive in a way with work and all… I hope your relatives allow you to do some gaming and reading soon too! :)

That’s not a headache- that’s a migraine! Hopefully the last one you’ll ever have.
I hope you’re able to get some rest and relaxation in there somewhere, as it sounds like you need it!

Sorry your summer hasn’t been going the way you hoped! Ooh, mosquito bites…I had a friend back in high school who had a similar reaction like that – hope it starts going away soon!

Oh my, I hope your summer improves, Kelly! If not, there’s always Frank Freakin’ Porter to pay attention to. Haha.
My summer is going okay. I want to read more but I’m not able to. Sigh.

Awh, I’m sorry to hear your summer wasn’t going the way you planned it and that’s why I always find it scary you can do all these money things over the internet.

Awww.. I’m sorry that your summer didn’t go as planned but I hope there were at least a few adventures in there somewhere.

The internet can be QUITE scary. It’s sad people have to stoop that low to take from others what they worked hard for. I’m sorry to her your summer isn’t going too great… I hope it takes a turn for the better now. I’ve never heard of someone being allergic to mosquito bites – that sucks! They suck enough as it is NOT being allergic. :(
Happy sleeping, reading and game-playing :D

That’s scary about your bug bites! My brother had a similar type of headache, and we ended up having to take him to the emergency room to run tests to make sure everything was okay. I hope you’re doing better now!

Wow Kelly! I’m so sorry that your summer hasn’t been the fun summer you wanted it to be! :( I hope everything turns out all right in the end with your bug bites and that your Paypal account gets secured again! As much as I love technology, some of the things that can happen on these devices can be quite scary! And what a relief that Paypal noticed there was suspicious activity in your account before anything really bad happened! Thanks for sharing, and I hope the rest of your summer is better! <3

That last bit about Paypal is definitely worrying! I hope you’re okay. At least it ended well in the end. And ooh, you have Asian relatives! I’m in the Philippines, so of course I would be interested in Asian bloggers, even if they’re just the smallest bit Asian. From what part of Asia are they from?

that sucks… I am allergic to mosquito bites as well, they used to get as bad as yours, but lucky for me I somehow became ‘less allergic’. But still, that sucks!
I’ve been absent because of introduction weeks for university. And the week before those two weeks I was absent because I got hit with a throat infection and a heavy asthma attack (which landed me in the hospital). I was still recovering during two weeks of introduction madness, and it ended with me leaving half a week early this week, because I haven’t recovered enough from my asthma attack and unfortunately now have no breath for anything… literally.
So I can relate to sucky summers… especially when my plans involved a trip to London, reading, sleeping, more reading and lots of good food!
Anyway, I hope you’re okay! Take things easy, and schedule some quality time with books (this always helps!)

Oh my god. I hate all kinds of bugs and their bites. Mosquito bites and bedbug bites are the worst. Thank God you went to the doctor to get it looked at. That’s very scary. I’m glad you are feeling better, but it’s never a good feeling. Plus it sounds like you have been very busy at your job. I hope now with fall starting that things will be better.

Wow, you had a busy summer! While I wasn’t working quite as much as you, I can relate! I worked as a shelver at my local library, which requires a lot of mindless sorting, bending, lifting, and avoiding little kids. I would always have plans to read, blog, or actually do something when I got home but NOPE. I would just get home and rest or watch TV. The struggle!
Ooof, I hope your bites go away soon! That sounds awful, never heard of anything like that! I like to tease my one sister because I swear the mosquitos only like her and that she brings them with her.
