The TBR Tag

tbrtag

I was tagged by the amazing and talented Kristen from My Friends Are Fiction to do the TBR Tag, which was created by Rachel from A Perfection Called Books and Dana from Dana Square. I wonder what questions I’ll have to answer in this tag.

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
A lie: Goodreads.
The truth: My brain.
Yes. Seriously. I somehow remember the books I really want to read and when they will be released. I’m a freak. Honestly, I can use that memory space in my brain to remember other things like Calculus formulas instead when a thing like Goodreads exist to help you with this.

For ARCs, I made a spreadsheet using Excel that I rarely look at, so what’s the point of making it and updating it? Answer: To see all the shades of blue (ARCs I’ve read and reviewed) orange (ARCs I still need to read and review). As of now, the colors are 50/50, and whites (ARCs I don’t have to read asap and review because they aren’t requested).

arcss
Ain’t all the colors pretty?

Is your TBR mostly print or ebook?
Print. Which is pretty bad for me since I don’t have any more shelf room left, but I love flipping the page and stroking the cover and just hugging the book.

pennyroyalacademy
My October TBR, which consists of 110% print books.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
I’m sadly a very indecisive mood reader, which is the worst combination ever in my opinion. I’m actually happy when I have ARCs to read because they dictate what I have to read next; otherwise, I spend at least an hour debating what to read next. Like I said, I’m a freak.

A book that’s been on your TBR list the longest?
Um, time to use Goodreads for this question…
-Five minutes and some being distracted by Youtube moments later…-
Fated by Alyson Noel. It was added the day I joined Goodreads and I still haven’t read it.

A book that you recently added to your TBR pile?
Lady Helen and the Dark Days by Alison Goodman. A book by the author that wrote Eon, another book on my TBR list, and a historical? I’m sold.

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover:
Which one? I have TONS. Awaken by Meg Cabot, Sever by Lauren DeStefano, Infinityglass by Myra McEntire, Empower by Jessica Shirvington, A Cold Legacy by Megan Shepherd, Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke, Sorceress by Claudia Gray, A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray, Forged by Erin Bowman, and Tether by Anna Jarzab. Need I go on? Guilty admission: If the cover of a book is gorgeous, it’s automatically added to my TBR.

A book on your TBR that you NEVER plan on actually reading:
It should be none because I organized my TBR pile on Goodreads just yesterday, but let me check…
Okay, Sever by Lauren DeStefano is one of them. After all the boredom, yawning, rolling my eyes, playing with my hair, and sleepyness Perfect Ruin put me through, I won’t even want to touch that book with a 10 foot pole. I can always peek at the ending to see how the series ends.

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for:
LOTS. Do I really have to pick just one? FINE. A Darker Shade of Magic by by V.E. Schwab. I mean, how can you not be excited for a book written by the author of Vicious, sounds amazing, and has such a GORGEOUS cover?

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you:
The latest is The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. Everyone either urges me to read it or is very excited for the sequel and that makes me excited. All I have to do is to find my ARC of it, which is somewhere in my house.

A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you:
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I know, I know, I can’t believe I haven’t read it either. I will someday, hopefully, maybe.

A book on your TBR that you’re dying to read:
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. That cover and DUDE, have you read that synopsis? It’s set in a Rome-like world, there are slaves, there are soldiers, there is magic, there will be blood, and just, drooooooooool.

The number of books on your Goodreads TBR shelf?
Like I said earlier, I cleaned my TBR shelf on Goodreads just yesterday, so…it went down from the one thousands to 536. I feel so proud of myself. :D

And that’s it! How about you? What would you answer to these questions? I want to know!

I’ll be tagging anyone who wants to do this. Go and have fun! I know I did.

I always like the idea of spreadsheets for keeping track of ARCs, but the problem is, I KNOW I won’t use it. Heck, I’ve tried using a calendar for scheduling my blog posts, and I only used it for a few weeks and stopped. Fail. I’m also a mood reader too, so I’m constantly switching up what I want to read and I’m currently in the middle of like 5 books. I still haven’t read any of V.E. Schwab’s books, which is just not okay. Also. You’re not the only one who hasn’t read Fangirl (I guess we’re missing out, huh?). And oh my gosh I’M SO EXCITED about An Ember in the Ashes. Everything you said plus THAT GORGEOUS COVER!! My TBR is really, really long so I should probably do a cleanup soon. Maybe.

Ah, mood reading makes it so difficult to get through the TBR pile! :(
I’m the same way, though I’ve recently hopped aboard the Book Bingo train, to help me with my indecision.

LOL! You and I are freakishly similar when it comes to the first few questions. I particularly like the very first question… “A Lie: goodreads, The Truth: My brain” I laughed right out loud at that one. I used GR to get organized and now, it’s almost as much of a mess as my actual bookshelves are. I just don’t have time. I’m also a huge mood reader… and indecisive. You’re right! It’s a terrible combination.

You’ve done a little revamping in here too. Looks good!

Haha. We are a lot a like in how we keep track of the books we read. I totally use Goodreads, but really it isn’t so much to keep track of books I want to read, and more of a place to keep track of the books I have read. Although I am actually trying to use Goodreads to it’s full potential.

I am also a really big indecisive mood reader. Sometimes it can actually take a day or two for me to figure out what to read next. I’m in that indecisive mode right now. :)

I think I’m going to do this tags soon. It’s fun, and I like seeing what other people do.

Yay! I wouldn’t normally do something like this but I loved the peek into the TBR piles. It also motivated me to think about what I wanted to read a smidgen more. Then I threw out what I was supposed to read and went to a December book because- mood. And it was a glorious reading experience. thanks for playing along :-P

LOL I use my brain too to keep track of my TBR pile. I rarely rely on my Goodreads’ shelves for the books I want to read. I don’t really use Goodreads to keep track of the books I have/want to read. I am also an indecisive reader. It takes me forever to choose which book to read whether it’s a book I bought or an ARC. It’s really bad :/ I wish I knew what I wanted to read next right away, but there’s just so many books to choose from! I also have not read Fangirl so don’t worry.

I really need to find a better way of keeping tracking of books I have to read. I try to make a spreadsheet for it, but it sometimes doesn’t work. I’m trying to use Wunderlist to keep track of the book, but it’s so tedious to use since it doesn’t have an edit option when you mistype book titles/author names.

Indecisive mood reader all the way! It really is the worstttttttt. I still have last years ARCs to read because well, I was never in the mood to read it. Still am not. :\

Don’t feel too guilty for adding books automatically because of how gorgeous a cover is. I do it all the time and I don’t feel too guilty. At least I’ll read the synopsis after admiring the cover for a while so I can make up my mind. And dude! I totally need to clean up my TBR! But uhh…so many books! :C

This tag real makes me realize I don’t have as many books on my tbr. I like to keep it around 300 below if possible, but often I read one book, start another book, and add another book to my tbr so it is constantly around 300. I need to get my TBR tag up. I have wrote some of it.

Congrats on cleaning your Goodreads shelf! I have to do that to my wishlist shelf and it’s scary.
I read Fated just last month, and it’s definitely worth reading. I also just read Fangirl, and I was rather meh about it. Which is sad as I was really looking forward to it. I actually just posted reviews of both books last week!

Awesome tag, I JUST wrote a whole post on my ENTIRE tbr, it’s only 44 so hopefully I’ll finish it…. at some point in my lifetime (I’m always adding more) and gah! You NEED to read Fangirl, it’s amazing! And I can totally relate to a thousand pieces of you, the cover’s the main reason I want to read it to!
