Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Ten Books I’d Love to Read With My Book Club (If I Had A Book Club). I sadly don’t have a book club (people at my college sadly stay far, far, far away from books), but for this Top Ten Tuesday, I pretended to have a book club for a second or two to do this topic.
So here’s my list in no particular order:
1. Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor: Daughter of Smoke & Bone will make an EXCELLENT book for book club. We can talk about the romance, that ending, and Laini Taylor’s beautiful writing.
2. If I Lie by Corrine Jackson: If I Lie will spark tons of deep conversations and probably inspire an entire book club to tears. I remember recommending (-ahem- forcing) my sister to read If I Lie, warning that hey, you will cry (she didn’t believe me) and ended up watching her trying to hide her tears from me. This book will stay with you for a long time.
3. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry: Pushing the Limits will inspire so much talking: Noah’s hardships, Echo’s physical and mental scars, the friendships, and let’s not forget to mention, the endless tears the book caused. Hell, every time I read this one particular part of the book, I still cry.
4. What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang: I feel like What’s Left of Me will inspire a lot of talking. What will it be like to have two souls living in one body in our society today? That question alone will lead to hours of talking and discussion.
5. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson: First of all, I FREAKING LOVE THIS BOOK. I will probably say that to my non-existent book club and then proceed to force EVERYONE in it to read it. I can talk about Since You’ve Been Gone for hours: Emily, Frank Porter, and all the friendships.
6. Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian: Burn for Burn will bring up interesting discussions about revenge and if Mary, Kat, and Lillia went too far in their revenge.
7. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas: The book club can talk about how epic Throne of Glass is because let’s face it, how is it not epic? I also expect arguments over who has Chaol as a book boyfriend and who has Dorian as a book boyfriend and whether or not people want to share.
8. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater: The obvious discussion for The Raven Boys is who owns Gansey. Or Ronan. Or maybe even Adam. I’ll probably be busy stroking the cover while discussing the book.
9. Stolen by Lucy Christopher: This book is probably my number one most recommended book club book. The ending just killed me and I’m pretty sure the ending will also kill everyone else in the book club too. It will spark years of discussion – I read Stolen two years ago and I’m still thinking about it.
10. Identical by Ellen Hopkins: Identical is probably my number two most recommended book club book. The plot twist in Identical probably scarred me for life; I’m still reeling from that twist. Someone read Identical already so I can moan over it with you!

SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE!! Yes. I could talk about that book all day long too. That’s a great pick. Also, The Raven Boys. Everyone should read that one. I’d totally be a member of your book club if these were the choices. :)

I would SO join your book club, because all but 1 of these books would be a fresh read for me. I would be a rather strong participant in the Throne of Glass discussion and would most definitely sit with Chaol in my corner. I may or may not be in love with him. It’s whatever. Great picks!

I remember you Rec-ing Stolen to me and I still haven’t read it. Also I am a little scared by your description. I LOVE Pushing the Limits and Burn for Burn. Totally agree with your reasoning for those. They would have so much to talk about. Burn for Burn in specific because I had so many thoughts about that one.
I didn’t really like Since You’ve Been Gone because it took me a while to get into it but it’s such a fun and summery read!

I LOVED Since You’ve Been Gone, Throne of Glass Pushing the Limits and The Raven Boys. They are all incredible reads! I enjoyed Burn for Burn as well but haven’t continued on with the trilogy. And Stolen and Daughter of Smoke and Bone are on my to-read list! I don’t think I’ll be reading an Ellen Hopkins book in the near future, for some reason I find verse very hard to focus on and read…

Some great picks in here, both ones I’ve read and ones that are on my TBR. I loved Pushing the Limits and Throne of Glass, they’d make great book club picks. I recently got Since You’ve Been Gone and I’ve heard really good things about it so I’m looking forward to reading it!

I belong to a local book reading community here in my place and every books signing events we meet up and discuss the books concerned. But mostly we kept in touch online in our FB page and share about the recent books we have read and fangirl about our book boyfriends. Your line up for book discussions are excellent. I have read half of them the rest some of them are still on my tbr. Gaaah! i have a perfect gal pal (whom i have met thru said book reading community) for you who can equally obsessed with you over The Raven Cycle series. She totally adores Maggie. It is one of her ultimate dream to meet her in person.
Man i need to start on Since You’ve Been Gone. Anyways…i hope someday you will find your own book club nearby.
I’ve only read Pushing the Limits, but it would make a great book club read. I really need to read Daughter of Smoke & Bone, The Raven Boys, and Since You’ve Been Gone.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Throne of Glass would make SUCH GREAT bookclub reads! I’ve read both of those and only one of the of the others, but they shine out as being particularly fantastic choices. They’d inspire really neat discussions, I think! Fantastic choices!
