Top Ten Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read From The Fantasy Genre

toptentuesday

Each week, The Broke and Bookish host a Top Ten Tuesday based on a certain bookish topic. Other bloggers are able to participate and post their own top ten list based on the topic.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Top Ten Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read From The Fantasy Genre. Since I mostly read fantasy books and it’s my favorite genre, this list was pretty easy for me to do.

So here’s my list in no particular order:

tt3

1. Angelfall by Susan Ee: Very recently, Kristen from My Friends Are Fiction bugged me to read Angelfall. I will, Kristen, I promise! I just don’t know when that will happen.

2. The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin: Like I said in a previous Top Ten Tuesday, I was waiting on this book for YEARS and even managed to get it three weeks early. Why have I still not read The Retribution of Mara Dyer yet? Answer: Probably because I forgot everything that has happened in the first two books, so I have to reread everything again to have the full experience.

3. The Falconer by Elizabeth May: I’ve heard nothing but great things about The Falconer ever since it was released and I still can’t believe I haven’t read it yet! I can’t wait to read it and join in the excitement for the sequel.

4. Poison Princess by Kresley Cole: I’ve planned on reading this one since it was first released three freaking years ago when there was massive hype surrounding it. Now since the last book in the trilogy is finally released, I have absolutely no excuse to not start this trilogy.

5. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes & Michelle Rowen: Fantasy is one of my favorite genres and I still can’t believe I haven’t read this series yet because HAVE YOU SEEN THE MAP? It’s just gorgeous.

6. The Perilous Sea by Sherry Thomas: After reading The Burning Sky, I had a deep strong need for The Perilous Sea. I finally had it in my hands ages ago, but never read it yet for some reason. Maybe it’s just because I’m waiting for the third and final book in the series to be released so I won’t be desperate for more?

7. Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke: I was always interested in Dissonance because of its gorgeous cover (I’m still all noooooooo to the cover change) and I still want to read it. The question is, when will I have the time?

8. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon: I’ve been meaning to read The Bone Season ever since I was introduced to it at BEA last year. Add in the fact that a lot of my friends just adore The Bone Season and I need to read it asap already.

9. Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian: I can’t believe I still haven’t finished this series yet. I’ve heard some disappointment over how the series ended though, so I’m a bit worried about that.

10. Shadows by Paula Weston: I’ve heard so many great things about this series and I have the first three books on my bookshelves, so why haven’t I started this series yet? Hopefully I’ll start it sometime soon and love it while I do.

And now, I want to know, what are your top ten books you can’t believe you haven’t read from the fantasy genre?

Angelfall is a very good book. It’s bloody and gory, plus the female MC is kick-ass. The bone season is good, but the Mime order is even better. THE FALCONER. I have much love for that series. The perilous sea was less interesting than The burning sky for me, but still a must-read :)

I did the same topic! Although I love fantasy, I don’t read it often so I have quite a few big-named books I haven’t read.

I haven’t read any of these books!

I LOVED the Falconer, but honestly the cliffhanger was killer so I’d suggest maybe waiting until the 2nd one is out before reading the 1st.

All awesome books! And just an FYI, the Arcana Chronicles (Poison Princess series) is not just a trilogy, so Dead of Winter is not the last book, more books will be coming out..

And for Mara Dyer, have you heard of a site called Recaptains? They do in depth posts on books in series so you can catch up without having to re-read. Here are the links for books 1 and 2.

I read Ashes to Ashes. Hated it. To be fair, it actually isn’t really fantasy. It’s more paranormal because of what that character IS [spoilers to those who haven’t read!] I haven’t read Falling Kingdoms but I have A Book Of Spirits and Thieves that I’ve REALLY been wanting to get into!

Read the Falling Kingdoms series, the first book is pretty decent but as the series goes on IT JUST GETS SO GOOD.. It’s sort of similar to Throne of Glass, there are some parallels, but it is considered a high fantasy so it’s a lot crazier. With Dissonance it is also pretty good, it has a really intriguing world. But the main character, is just sort of bleh in my opinion.

YES! to Angelfall! It’s such a great book and the the last book in the trilogy comes out in a few months. This means now’s about the right time to start without having to wait so long for the next book ;)

As for Ashes to Ashes, yeah, I kinda wish I hadn’t bothered with it. I loved Burn for Burn and Fire with Fire but that third book in the series just totally fell flat for me.

All these books look pretty amazing. I have fallen in love with the ‘angelfall’ cover, it’s just so gorgeous! I tend not to read to many fantasy novels, though I have a favourite which I think? is a fantasy. It’s called ‘Firelight’ by Sophie Jordan and I love it to bits. I can’t believe I haven’t read any of those, either! Actually, of those The Falconer is the only one on my list (I’ve got a reading list of 167+ books right now, many of which are fantasies). Best of luck tackling those! Sometimes a series is worth reading even if the ending isn’t the best, for the experience of the ride.

Also Falling Kingdoms, really good. I bought the third one like a month ago and haven’t gotten to it but plan to
Also the Perilous Sea, Awesome cover. I’ve had it for a while but also one I need to get to. I think I’ll do it on a buddy read.
