Falling Hard & Fast: Blog Tour + Interview & Giveaway of Forever For A Year by B.T. Gottfred

Today I’ll be talking about a book you’ve probably heard of recently: FOREVER FOR A YEAR by B.T. Gottfred as part of the FOREVER FOR A YEAR blog tour! Make sure you also enter the giveaway below, courtesy of Macmillan!

foreverforayearForever For A Year
Author: B.T. Gottfred
Series: None
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Release Date: July 7, 2015
Publisher: Henry Holt & Co.

Goodreads | Amazon | TBD

Summary:

When Carolina and Trevor meet on their first day of school, something draws them to each other. They gradually share first kisses, first touches, first sexual experiences. When they’re together, nothing else matters. But one of them will make a choice, and the other a mistake, that will break what they thought was unbreakable. Both will wish that they could fall in love again for the first time…but first love, by definition, can’t happen twice.
Told in Carolina and Trevor’s alternating voices, this is an up-close-and-personal story of two teenagers falling in love for the first time, and discovering it might not last forever.

First Sentence: It was my idea for us to start using our full names.

I received a copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not compensated for this review.

How would you describe the feeling of falling in love for the first time?

Falling in love is when you sleep with your phone at night, waiting for a phone call or text message from him.

Falling in love is when you think about him all day, everyday, wondering if he’s thinking of you that very moment.

Falling in love is when your heart beats fast when you make eye contact, never mind when you’re in the same room as him.

Falling in love will ultimately end up in making compromises. Lots of them.

The Interview

1. Hi B.T.! Can tell us something we don’t know about you, something we won’t discover from a simple Google search?

I’m an emotional exhibitionist so I’ll tell anyone anything. But what could be interesting but not TOO interesting to share today? Mmmhhhh…I cry a surprising amount during animated Disney movies. Just last week, I cried during In & Out. I like to think it’s because I’m in touch with my sensitive side. ;) On the more scandalous side, I may have cheated on a few A.P. physics tests in high school using the very futuristic (at the time) scientific calculators. I feel bad about this now. Sort of.

2. Are there any parts in Forever For A Year where you were like I can’t believe I just wrote this?

I started Forever For A Year with the clear intention of being very open and detailed about first love and first sexual experiences so nothing I ended up writing concerning that surprised me too much. What comes to mind now, actually, is how some of the supporting characters evolved and revealed themselves. Shannon Shunton specifically proved to be a fascinating and unpredictable person. Who I thought she would be, both to the story and to Carolina, and who she ended up being proved very different.

3. What do you want readers to take out of your book after they finish reading it?

I have no single hope for what readers might experience. We are all different in an infinitely different number of ways so to try and control how readers react to my book would be futile and counterproductive. I do hope they leave the story feeling that Carolina and Trevor were worth getting to know. ;)

It does sound like an interesting book to read. I’ll be adding it to my TBR list. I like that he’s an emotional exhibitionist, and that he shared that he cries during Disney movies. Most men wouldn’t admit that, so that’s a refreshing change.

This book sounds good! Not every day are authors so willing to share a “first love” story and be up front about sexual content in the novel. Can’t wait to read.
